The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in reducing procrastination and increasing the self-efficacy of mothers living in Ray city. The research method used was a single-factor experiment with repeated measures. Sampling was done using the multistage cluster sampling method. The sample consisted of 41 mothers of primary school students from Ray city. The intervention was over 8 sessions and each session lasted 90 minutes. Data was collected in three phases (beginning, end, and follow-up). Data was analyzed through the examination of the variance of repeated measurements. The results of this study showed that the research hypotheses were confirmed at a significant level (P= 0.00). It can therefore be said that group therapy based on acceptance and commitment reduces procrastination and increases self-efficacy in mothers. Article visualizations
LA DÉMARCHE D’INVESTIGATION PEUT ÊTRE UNE PRATIQUE EFFICACE POUR ENSEIGNER LES CONCEPTS ABSTRAITS EN MÉCANIQUE : CAS DES CLASSES TERMINALES SCIENCES TECHNIQUES EN TUNISIE / THE INQUIRY BASED APPROACH CAN BE AN EFFECTIVE WAY OF TEACHING ABSTRACT CONCEPTS IN MECHANICS: THE CASE OF FINAL-YEAR TECHNICAL SCIENCE CLASSES IN TUNISIA
The investigative approach is an approach that increasingly asserts its potential in teaching. Indeed, it allows students to develop skills, attitudes and interests, necessary to live in a society increasingly dependent on the applications of science. In order to guarantee the successful application of the new programs and to improve the quality of teaching in class, we carried out an exploratory survey with teachers of 4th and 3rd technical sciences; we were able to conclude that To identify a functional condition or to trace the chain of dimensions relating to this condition on an overall drawing of a mechanism; to determine the functional dimensions and represent them on the part definition drawings based on the chain of dimensions; This represents a difficult learning of the concept of “functional dimensioning” in mechanics. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the different obstacles, and think about effective remediation, to overcome the difficulties in student learning. Thus, our research work consists of a comparative study between different learning situations using the investigation approach as a teaching practice and by exploiting new technologies to try to verify whether: (a) does computer simulation make it possible to overcome students' difficulties linked to erroneous conceptions of tracing coastlines and writing a tolerance rating? and (b) can computer simulation be a didactic aid to the teacher, to elucidate the morphology of the parts and their functionalities in a mechanism to learners? EFFECT OF SPIRITUAL INTERVENTION ON STRESS MANAGEMENT AMONG STUDENT MOTHERS IN KENYAN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KENYA: A CASE OF BUNGOMA COUNTY, KENYA
Internationally, teenage pregnancy has been recognized as a major pertinent issue. Lack of adequate family support affects the emotional well-being of the pregnant student mother as well as the unborn and/or the newborn baby. Furthermore, student motherhood hinders the chance of the student mother from completing her studies. In Kenya, teenage pregnancy thwarts achievements in the education of the girl child. The objective of this study was to establish the effect of spiritual intervention on stress management among student mothers in public secondary schools in Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County, Kenya. This study was guided by William Glasser’s Psychological Reality Theory on Maladaptive Behaviour. The study employed a cross-sectional research design. The target population was 5,069 Form three and Form four girls from public secondary schools in Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County, Kenya. The study also targeted 23 school Guidance and Counselling teachers as well as 23 school Chaplains. The sample size table proposed by Krejcie & Morgan, 1970 was used to obtain 381 female students from girls’ schools as well as mixed schools, 19 Guidance and Counselling teachers and 19 School Chaplains. Questionnaires and interview schedules were used to gather qualitative and quantitative data. The instruments used to collect data were piloted with the intention of establishing their validity and reliability using a Cronbach alpha value greater than 0.7, which is an indication of higher reliability. SPSS package version 23 was used to analyse both descriptive and inferential statistics. Presentations were done in frequencies and percentage tables. Descriptive data were analyzed using means, percentages, and standard deviations. Inferential data were analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient (r). Spiritual counselling had a positive and significant effect on stress management (r=0.836, p<0.000). The study concluded that spiritual intervention has a significant effect on stress management among student mothers in public secondary schools in Kimilili sub-county, Bungoma County, Kenya. Consequently, this study recommends that schools should prioritize and enhance consistent pastoral support for student mothers. Also, there is a need for comprehensive sex education from parents, guidance and counselling teachers, school and religious leaders. Further, the study recommends that future studies be conducted on specific counselling approaches that prove most effective in managing stress among student mothers. Also, there is a need to consider further studies on factors contributing to teenage pregnancies among students in the region. Article visualizations

ACCESS ARRANGEMENT PRACTICES, ITS EFFECTIVENESS AND INFLUENCE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF LEARNERS WITH DYSGRAPHIA IN PUBLIC LOWER-PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN VIHIGA COUNTY, KENYA
The study explored the access arrangement practices, their effectiveness, and their influence on the performance of learners with dysgraphia in public lower-primary schools in Emuhaya Sub-County, Vihiga County. This study was anchored on Robert Gagne’s Conditions of Learning theory, proposed in 1965. A descriptive research design was adopted. The study aimed to include all 163 learners diagnosed with dysgraphia enrolled in lower public primary schools within the Emuhaya sub-county. Additionally, the study targeted 16 headteachers from public primary schools, 153 teachers, and 10 sub-county Education officers in the same sub-county. The researcher utilized stratified sampling to select 5 public primary schools. Purposive sampling was used to select 5 headteachers from the sampled schools. Similarly, purposive sampling was employed to select 6education officers from the Emuhaya sub-county. The researcher sampled 50 lower primary school teachers and 50 learners identified with dysgraphia from grade 1 to grade 3 in the sampled schools using simple random sampling. The researcher employed a combination of open and closed questionnaires, as well as interview guides, to gather data from different categories of participants. A pilot study was conducted in two public primary schools, which were not included in the main data collection. Qualitative data underwent content analysis, while quantitative data was analyzed using frequencies and percentages with SPSS. Results indicated that schools in Emuhaya utilized various access arrangements for students with dysgraphia. Dysgraphia was found to impact academic performance negatively, but with intervention, student performance improved by 5%–10% in successive exams. Students reported a positive change in attitude towards education due to the intervention, feeling supported by the school. The study concluded that access arrangements have an impact on the academic performance of students with dysgraphia. Before the intervention, dysgraphia hurt students' academic performance, as evidenced by poor performance in previous exams. The study recommended that the government need to implement a systematic identification method for documenting students with learning disabilities early in their academic journey. Early identification and intervention can significantly improve outcomes for dysgraphia students and facilitate timely support and resources. Schools should prioritize the implementation of recommended interventions to support dysgraphia students, promote inclusivity, and foster a positive attitude towards education among all students, regardless of their learning needs. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACADEMIC SELF-CONCEPT AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KIRINYAGA COUNTY, KENYA
Low academic achievement may negatively impact on learners’ psychological well-being and cause substantial stress on parents, who may subsequently pressure their children to perform. There are many aspects that might be associated with low academic achievement, including environmental, pedagogical, and psychological factors. This study focused on one psychological factor, namely academic self-concept (ASC) among learners in secondary schools. The purpose therefore was to determine the relationship between academic self-concept and academic achievement among secondary school learners in Kirinyaga East sub-county, Kirinyaga County. The study was founded on Rogers’ (1959) self-concept theory. Using correlational research design, the researcher aimed to draw inferences from a population of 2,500 students in form three across all public secondary schools in Kirinyaga East sub-county. Three hundred and eighty students from 12 schools were selected through proportionate, purposive, stratified, and stratified random sampling techniques. A questionnaire incorporating an adapted ASCA scale, as well as end-of-term examination records were used as instruments. Central tendency, frequency counts, and distribution variability were utilised as descriptive statistics, and correlation coefficient as inferential statistics. The results indicated that a significant positive relationship was established between ASC and learners’ scores on academic achievement (r (359) = .14, p< 0.01). Motivation, and creativity as domains of ASC were significantly correlated with scores on academic achievement. The study recommended that there was a need for the education ministry through its training and capacity-building institutions to equip teachers with skills aimed at developing key components of ASC. The study further recommended that schools ought to promote instructional strategies aimed at enhancing components of ASC found to have been strongly linked to academic achievement. MULTISENSORY PERCEPTION AND MULTIMODAL COMMUNICATION IN PRIMARY EDUCATION. EXPLORING THE AESTHETIC EXPERIENCE AND WAYS OF COMMUNICATION THE ‘BOX OF SENSES’
This study investigates the ways that children feel free to express themselves and communicate with others through their aesthetic development. Multisensory perception helps children to discover their senses and multimodal expression gives them ways and tools to communicate their emotions and ideas, in the way that they want or that they are able to. ‘Box of Senses’ is a collection of objects that each child makes on its own and through it, it has the opportunity to communicate the way he feels the world, within the community to which he belongs. Objects of everyday life reveal that sensory perception can recall memories, ideas, and emotions. But how do our senses interact with linguistic communication? What color is a word and what does a picture taste like? How do the image and writing work are combined together to describe the senses and ultimately communicate one’s experience? Can all these distinct fragments of our everyday sensory experience be narrated by a haiku poem? Article visualizations
