    Do mothers Affect Daughter’s Behaviors? Diet, Physical Activity, and Sedentary Behaviors in Kuwaiti Mother–Daughter Dyads

    The objective of the study was to evaluate 169 Kuwaiti mother– daughter dyads and their associations with health behaviors for eating healthy, engaging in physical activity, daughters perceived body weight, time spent with computer/video, and time viewing television. Female students aged 10–14 years were selected from private and public schools in the State of Kuwait. Results demonstrated that daughters exhibited similar behaviors to their mothers in their perceived eating behavior, physical activity, computer/ video game use, and TV screen time. Future research is essential to determine the role of mothers in effective health behavior intervention strategies for female Kuwaiti adolescents

    Incidencia de COVID-19 en pacientes con cáncer atendidos en el Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos de la ciudad de Mar del Plata, Argentina, 2020-2021”

    Introducción: El COVID-19 afectó preferentemente a individuos con enfermedades crónicas como cáncer, con mayor gravedad y mortalidad que la población general. Objetivos: Estimar incidencia de infección, internación y letalidad por COVID-19 en pacientes con cáncer diagnosticados entre el 1 de enero del 2018 y 31 de diciembre del 2020, atendidos en un Hospital de la ciudad de Mar del Plata y evaluar factores de riesgo de infección. Métodos: estudio de cohorte retrospectivo en pacientes con cáncer de 15 años o más. Se relevaron variables demográficas, comorbilidades, características del tumor, tratamientos oncológicos, infección, internación y fallecimiento por COVID-19. Se ajustaron curvas de Kaplan-Meier y un modelo de regresión de Cox; la variable respuesta fue el tiempo hasta la infección. Resultados: Se incluyeron 995 pacientes, 8,9% tuvieron COVID-19. 95,6% presentaban tumores sólidos, 41.4% formas graves de cáncer, 1.7% más de un tumor maligno y 10,9% tumores con formas metastásicas. Los pacientes menores de 60 años, con cáncer hematológico y/o formas graves de cáncer presentaron mayor riesgo de infección por COVID-19. Discusión: La mayor circulación y exposición en los menores de 60 años podrían explicar el mayor riesgo de infección, mientras que la disminución del estado inmunitario lo sería en el caso de los cánceres sólidos con estadios más severos o los de tipo hematológico
