Background: To study the incidence, causes, clinical presentations, management and maternal morbidity and mortality associated with acute puerperal inversion of uterus. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, from March 2008 to March 2013. All the women who developed acute puerperal inversion of uterus either in or outside our hospital were included in the study. Results: Majority of women presenting with inversion belonged to age group 20-35 years, were multigravida (68.2%), came from rural set-up (81.4%) and were unbooked (81.8%). Majority of deliveries complicated by inversion took place at home (50%), delivered by dais (46%). Mismanaged 3rd stage of labour proved to be an important factor (36.4%) leading to inversion uterus followed by atonicity of uterus. 90% of women suffered due to delay in management at PHC and CHC, 68%women succumbed to delay in diagnosis at the place of delivery by untrained staff, whereas 45% women suffered due to delay in transport facility. 13.63% women suffered from sepsis in post-operative period, 22.72% from renal failure whereas 18.18% died. Conclusion: Proper education and training regarding active management of third stage of labour, diagnosis and management of uterine inversion should be imparted to traditional birth attendants, so that this potentially life-threatening obstetric emergency could be averted

The Pathway Forward: Uncovering the Barriers Faced by Women Police Chiefs

Women have encountered many obstacles in their quest to gain leadership in law enforcement. While research has studied how well women officers strive to achieve higher-level positions within police departments, the challenges women face when they gain top leadership roles remain largely unexplored. This research paper will discuss the unique challenges faced by women police chiefs, drawing from first-hand experiences of women police chiefs and existing literature. The study finds that women police chiefs encounter challenges in communication, transferring to a new department, overtasking, introvertedness, and general police chief stress. The study also finds that women police chiefs implement ways to improve communication, quiet time to think, emotional intelligence, delegate, and remain consistent with overcoming their challenges. This study informs law enforcement leaders on better supporting women police chiefs and future generations

Not AvailableA number of black boxand process-based modelling approaches, their strengths/limitations, and future applications for simulating contaminant dynamics in constructed wetlands (CWs) have been reviewed. Scanning of literature reveals that most of the CW modelling approaches are limited to the simulation of only nutrient and organic pollutant load dynamics. Performance analysis of the various process/black box-based models for simulating pollutant dynamics in vertical subsurface flow, horizontal subsurface flow, and hybrid CW systems further reveals that most of the existing modelling approaches have not not so far been able to account for the changing climatic conditions and the heavy metal dynamics. The paper thus highlights the gaps in the knowledge in the current state of the art for simulating wetland pollutant dynamics and suggests mechanisms for increasing the scope of such modelling approaches in the proper design and operation of the CW systems. Not Availabl

Cultural Influences of Leadership Curriculum: A Literature Analysis Between Western and Eastern Leadership Curriculum

    No full text
This literature review seeks to determine how Western and Eastern cultures influence leadership training and curriculum design. According to research, cultural differences may make it difficult to develop a universal leadership curriculum. Due to cultural variations, establishing a universal leadership curriculum might be difficult, and it is most ideal to create a leadership curriculum that fits a specific culture to maximize the efficiency of a leader. Cultural factors such as society structure and dispute resolution continue to influence the desired leadership curriculum and training in target regions. Western leadership has been impacted by growth mentality, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution, while Eastern leadership is typically connected with Confucianism and collectivism

Video Games as a Way to Facilitate Leadership Skills and Competency Development

    No full text
This scoping review examines recent literature on video games and leadership competency development to assess whether gaming can foster leadership development. The study discovered that the popularity of video games has increased and that they have the ability to enhance player leadership and real-world leadership skills. Video games can increase management, social, and creative skills, and their increasing complexity makes them beneficial for the study of leadership. There are existing structures in place for leadership development in the military and in the civilian sector, despite the fact that some studies have demonstrated their potential. This topic is relevant because the COVID-19 epidemic has enhanced the requirement for leadership in virtual workplaces. The conclusion of the study examines how video games might enhance leadership abilities
