    Therapeutic benefit of aripiprazole-olanzapine combination in the treatment of senile Alzheimer’s disease complicated by mental disorders

    Purpose: To determine the clinical efficacy of aripiprazole-olanzapine combination treatment in elderly Alzheimer’s disease complicated with mental disorders. Methods: Ninety-two elderly patients with Alzheimer’s disease and mental disorders who were admitted to Binzhou People's Hospital, were enrolled in the study. They were randomized into control and study groups. Control group was treated with olanzapine, while the study group was treated with aripiprazole as an adjuvant therapy in addition to olanzapine. The clinical efficacy, scores on different scales (MMSE, ADAS-cog, CDR, ADL, NPI and CMAI), and incidence of adverse reactions were determined. Results: The overall degree of response was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in MMSE, ADAS-cog, CDR, ADL, NPI and CMAI scores between the two groups before treatment (p > 0.05). The MMSE score of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the scores in the other scales in the study group were significantly lower after treatment (p < 0.05). The study group had significantly lower incidence of adverse reactions than control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Aripiprazole-olanzapine combination has significant therapeutic benefit in the treatment of elderly Alzheimer’s disease patients complicated with mental disorders. It promotes recovery of neurological function, as well as produces a lower incidence of adverse reactions. Keywords: Aripiprazole, Olanzapine, Alzheimer’s disease, Mental disorder

    Investigation on the changes of corneal curvature after non-phacoemulsification in small-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation

    AIM: To investigate the changes of corneal curvature after non-phacoemulsification in small-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation and discuss the essence of iatrogenic astigmatism. <p>METHODS: In this study, the horizontal corneal curvature(HCC)and vertical corneal curvature(VCC)of 99 patients(116 eyes)were documented before and after cataract surgery,with the postoperative follow-up of 3d; 1, 2wk; 1, 3, 6mo; 1, 2, 3a. The difference value of the HCC and the VCC between preoperation and postoperation were calculated and statistically analyzed. <p>RESULTS: The VCC was deceased by 2.01D, while the HCC was increased by 1.62D on the 3d after surgery; the difference value of the HCC and VCC were both decreased acutely in the 3mo postoperationly(the difference value of the VCC was -0.52D and HCC was 0.46D); the difference value of the HCC and VCC both were decreased mildly after 3mo of postoperation, There was no significant difference between the difference value of HCC(0.29D)and VCC(-0.29D)at 6mo(<i>P</i>=0.801); VCC was still smaller than that of preoperation(-0.26D), and HCC was larger than that of preoperation(0.25D)at the 3a. Paired <i>t</i> test was performed in these curvature differences, which both decreased apparently from 3d to 6mo after surgery(<i>P</i><0.001), while they stayed still from 6mo to 3a postoperatively(VCC: <i>P</i>=0.284; HCC:<i>P</i>=1.000). <p>CONCLUSION: It remains astigmatism for a short time after small-incision cataract surgery and the treatment requires improvement so as to minimize the astigmatism as much as possible

    Identifying the Effect of Data Breach Publicity on Information Security Awareness using Hierarchical Regression

Information Security Awareness (ISA) is the cognitive state where individuals comprehend information security, threats, and the capability to develop preventive strategies. Prior studies discovered that human mistakes or misbehavior is the most vulnerable link in information security due to insufficient security awareness. There were massive data breaches reported throughout the years globally. Literature shows that individuals will develop their evaluations of risks and sense of security awareness when receiving security risk information such as data breach incidents. These indications motivated us to examine the effect of an unexplored factor, that is, data breach publicity (DBR) on ISA. The purpose of this research is to discover if DBR significantly improves a model's ability to predict ISA and its magnitude in influencing ISA. A 3-stage hierarchical linear regression approach was used to build up the model with prior known influential factors to predict ISA. To the extent of our knowledge, there is no study reported to date regarding the implication of DBR on ISA. Our main findings reveal that DBR significantly explains 6.7% of ISA and achieves the highest coefficient comparing with prior known factors. Our research contributes to a novel discovery of a new factor that significantly influences ISA and its magnitude in increasing ISA. This discovery implies the need to incorporate the knowledge of data breach incidents into ISA-related educative programs or strategies to increase ISA.Peer reviewe

    Study on the control algorithm for lower limb exoskeleton based on ADAMS/Simulink co-simulation

    A sliding mode control algorithm based on proportional switching function was developed to make the lower limb exoskeleton more fit the human walking gait trajectory. It could improve the comfort of the exoskeleton wearer and enhance the reliability of the system. The three-dimensional mechanical model of the exoskeleton built using software SolidWorks was introduced to ADAMS and then the model parameters were set. The model was combined with the software MATLAB so that the human-machine cooperation control algorithm for lower limb exoskeleton based on ADAMS and Simulink co-simulation was developed. The simulation result was compared with the desired trajectory and the trajectory under PID control. The research discovered that the ability of trajectory tracking under the sliding mode control was much better than that under PID control. It provided an important theoretical basis for the research on human-machine cooperation control algorithm

    mmHawkeye: Passive UAV Detection with a COTS mmWave Radar

    Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are becoming potential threats to security-sensitive areas and personal privacy. A UAV can shoot photos at height, but how to detect such an uninvited intruder is an open problem. This paper presents mmHawkeye, a passive approach for UAV detection with a COTS millimeter wave (mmWave) radar. mmHawkeye doesn't require prior knowledge of the type, motions, and flight trajectory of the UAV, while exploiting the signal feature induced by the UAV's periodic micro-motion (PMM) for long-range accurate detection. The design is therefore effective in dealing with low-SNR and uncertain reflected signals from the UAV. mmHawkeye can further track the UAV's position with dynamic programming and particle filtering, and identify it with a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) based detector. We implement mmHawkeye on a commercial mmWave radar and evaluate its performance under varied settings. The experimental results show that mmHawkeye has a detection accuracy of 95.8% and can realize detection at a range up to 80m.Comment: 9 pages, 14 figures, IEEE SECON202
