    A case analysis of a product lifecycle information management framework for SMEs.

    Information management during the product lifecycle has received a great deal of attention over the last few years, mainly because firms work in a complex business environment characterized by information overload, high levels of competitiveness and the acceleration of technological change. In this context, Product Lifecycle Management(PLM) software has been evolving rapidly and,today, powerfultools in the market enable high levels of information to be managed. However, commercial PLM software is mostly oriented towards large-sized firms, which poses a big challenge for small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs). To address this issue, SMEs can develop their own Product Lifecycle Information Management (PLIM) Frameworks for managing data and information throughout the product lifecycle processes. This article presents a successful example of a PLIM Framework: the case of Pladomin’s PLIM Framework

    Analysis of candidates for interacting galaxy clusters: I. A1204 and A2029/A2033

    Merging galaxy clusters allow for the study of different mass components, dark and baryonic, separately. Also, their occurrence enables to test the ΛCDM scenario, which can be used to put constraints on the selfinteracting cross-section of the dark-matter particle. It is necessary to perform a homogeneous analysis of these systems. Hence, based on a recently presented sample of candidates for interacting galaxy clusters, we present the analysis of two of these cataloged systems. In this work, the first of a series devoted to characterizing galaxy clusters in merger processes, we perform a weak lensing analysis of clusters A1204 and A2029/2033 to derive the total masses of each identified interacting structure together with a dynamical study based on a two-body model. We also describe the gas and the mass distributions in the field through a lensing and an X-ray analysis. This is the first of a series of works which will analyze these type of system in order to characterize them. Neither merging cluster candidate shows evidence of having had a recent merger event. Nevertheless, there is dynamicalevidence that these systems could be interacting or could interact in the future. It is necessary to include more constraints in order to improve the methodology of classifying merging galaxy clusters.Characterization of these clusters is important in order to properly understand the nature of these systems and their connection withdynamical studies.Fil: Gonzalez, Elizabeth Johana.     Incorporando un plan de Vida Saludable en la Terapia Familiar Conductual: Ejemplificando un Caso Clínico de una Mujer con historial de Violencia Doméstica, Negligencia Infantil, Abuso de Drogas y Obesidad

    Women reported to child protective service agencies frequently report problems that significantly interfere with the health and well-being of their children and themselves. Behavioral treatment programs appear to be effective in managing these co-existing problems, such as domestic violence and substance abuse. However, evidence-supported interventions are rarely exemplified in complicated clinical cases, especially within child welfare settings. Therefore, in this case example, we describe the process of adapting an evidence-supported treatment to assist in managing significant co-existing health-related problems in a mother who was referred due to child neglect and drug abuse. At the conclusion of therapy, the participant reported improvements in perceived family relationships, illicit drug use, child maltreatment potential, whereas other health-related outcomes were mixed. Most improvements were maintained at 4-month follow-up. Issues relevant to implementing evidence-based treatments within community contexts are discussed, including methods of increasing the likelihood of valid outcome assessment, managing treatment integrity, and adjusting standardized treatments to accommodate co-occurring problems. Los programas de intervención conductual parecen ser eficaces en el manejo de problemas coexistentes como: la violencia doméstica y el abuso de drogas. Sin embargo, los tratamientos cuya eficacia ya ha sido demostrada en ocasiones anteriores, rara vez se han puesto en práctica en casos clínicos complicados, sobre todo en los centros de asistencia a menores. Por lo tanto, en este caso clínico, se describe el proceso de adaptación de un tratamiento eficaz para ayudar a controlar los problemas coexistentes de salud de una mujer acusada de negligencia infantil y abuso de drogas. Al finalizar el tratamiento, la participante informó sobre la mejoría en sus relaciones familiares, sobre su consumo de drogas y la negligencia infantil; aunque otros resultados relacionados con su salud no quedaron completamente claros. Gran parte de las mejorías se mantuvieron hasta 4 meses  después de haber concluido el tratamiento. Antes de implementar cada fase del tratamiento, discutimos los  contextos de la comunidad, aumentando así la probabilidad de obtener resultados positivos y respetando la integridad y el ajuste del tratamiento estándar para evitar que se presenten problemas en un futuro.Esta investigación se financió gracias a una subvención del Instituto Nacional de Drogodependencia (1R01DA020548-01A1) otorgada a Brad Donohue.     Reaction of OH radicals with CH3NH2 in the gas phase: experimental (11.7–177.5 K) and computed rate coefficients (10–1000 K)

    Nitrogen-bearing molecules, like methylamine (CH3NH2), can be the building blocks of amino acids in the interstellar medium (ISM). At the ultralow temperatures of the ISM, it is important to know its gas-phase reactivity towards interstellar radicals and the products formed. In this work, the kinetics of the OH + CH3NH2 reaction was experimentally and theoretically investigated at low- and high-pressure limits (LPL and HPL) between 10 and 1000 K. Moreover, the CH2NH2 and CH3NH yields were computed in the same temperature range for both pressure regimes. A pulsed CRESU (French acronym for Reaction Kinetics in a Uniform Supersonic Flow) apparatus was employed to determine the rate coefficient, k(T), in the 11.7–177.5 K range. A drastic increase of k(T) when the temperature is lowered was observed in agreement with theoretical calculations, evaluated by the competitive canonical unified statistical (CCUS) theory, below 300 K in the LPL regime. The same trend was observed in the HPL regime below 350 K, but the theoretical k(T) values were higher than the experimental ones. Above 200 K, the calculated rate coefficients are improved with respect to previous computational studies and are in excellent agreement with the experimental literature data. In the LPL, the formation of CH3NH becomes largely dominant below ca. 100 K. Conversely, in the HPL regime, CH2NH2 is the only product below 100 K, whereas CH3NH becomes dominant at 298 K with a branching ratio similar to the one found in the LPL regime (≈70%). At T > 300 K, both reaction channels are competitive independently of the pressure regimeLas moléculas que contienen nitrógeno, como la metilamina (CH 3 NH 2 ), pueden ser los componentes básicos de los aminoácidos en el medio interestelar (ISM). A las temperaturas ultrabajas del ISM, es importante conocer su reactividad en fase gaseosa hacia los radicales interestelares y los productos formados. En este trabajo se investigó experimental y teóricamente la cinética de la reacción OH + CH 3 NH 2 a límites de baja y alta presión (LPL y HPL) entre 10 y 1000 K. Además, las reacciones CH 2 NH 2 y CH 3Los rendimientos de NH se calcularon en el mismo rango de temperatura para ambos regímenes de presión. Se empleó un aparato CRESU (acrónimo francés de Reaction Kinetics in a Uniform Supersonic Flow) pulsado para determinar el coeficiente de velocidad, k ( T ), en el rango de 11,7–177,5 K. De acuerdo con los cálculos teóricos, evaluados por la teoría de la estadística unificada canónica competitiva (CCUS), se observó un aumento drástico de k ( T ) cuando se baja la temperatura, por debajo de 300 K en el régimen LPL. La misma tendencia se observó en el régimen HPL por debajo de 350 K, pero el k teórico ( T) los valores fueron superiores a los experimentales. Por encima de 200 K, los coeficientes de velocidad calculados mejoran con respecto a estudios computacionales previos y están en excelente acuerdo con los datos de la literatura experimental. En el LPL, la formación de CH 3 NH se vuelve mayoritariamente dominante por debajo de ca. 100 K. Por el contrario, en el régimen HPL, CH 2 NH 2 es el único producto por debajo de 100 K, mientras que CH 3 NH se vuelve dominante a 298 K con una relación de ramificación similar a la encontrada en el régimen LPL (≈70%). A T > 300 K, ambos canales de reacción son competitivos independientemente del régimen de presión

    Setae from the pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) contain several relevant allergens

    BACKGROUND: Pine processionary larvae produce urticating hairs (setae) that serve for protection against predators. Setae induce cutaneous reactions in animals and humans. The presence of toxic or allergic mechanisms is a matter of debate. OBJECTIVES: To detect the presence of allergens in setae and to characterize them. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Setae extracts were characterized by gel staining and immunoblot, with sera from patients with immediate reactions and positive prick test reactions, as well as a rabbit antiserum raised against setae. Setae proteins were fractionated by high-performance liquid chromatography. The most relevant allergen was analysed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS), and its sequence was deduced from an expressed sequence tag bank. Results. Setae contained at least seven different allergens. The most intense detection corresponded to a protein of MW ~ 14,000 that was similar to thaumetopoein, a previously described protein with mast cell-degranulating properties. MALDI-MS-based de novo sequencing provided a partial amino acid sequence different from that of the previously described allergen Tha p 1, and it was named Tha p 2. This allergen was detected in 61% of patients, and it is therefore a new major caterpillar allergen. CONCLUSIONS: Penetration of the setae from the pine processionary caterpillar delivers their allergenic content in addition to causing mechanical or toxic injury.This work was supported by URTICLIM, a French project funded by the ‘Agence Nationale de la Recherche’ (ANR 07BDIV 013).     Development of Potent Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses in Long-Term Hemodialysis Patients After 1273-mRNA SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination

    Long-term hemodialysis (HD) patients are considered vulnerable and at high-risk of developing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection due to their immunocompromised condition. Since COVID-19 associated mortality rates are higher in HD patients, vaccination is critical to protect them. The response towards vaccination against COVID-19 in HD patients is still uncertain and, in particular the cellular immune response is not fully understood. We monitored the humoral and cellular immune responses by analysis of the serological responses and Spike-specific cellular immunity in COVID-19-recovered and naïve HD patients in a longitudinal study shortly after vaccination to determine the protective effects of 1273-mRNA vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 in these high-risk patients. In naïve HD patients, the cellular immune response measured by IL-2 and IFN-ɣ secretion needed a second vaccine dose to significantly increase, with a similar pattern for the humoral response. In contrast, COVID-19 recovered HD patients developed a potent and rapid cellular and humoral immune response after the first vaccine dose. Interestingly, when comparing COVID-19 recovered healthy volunteers (HV), previously vaccinated with BNT162b2 vaccine to HD patients vaccinated with 1273-mRNA, these exhibited a more robust immune response that is maintained longitudinally.     Image guided SBRT for multiple liver metastases with ExacTrac Adaptive Gating

    AimTo report the outcome and toxicity of sequential stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for multiple liver metastases in patients treated with ExacTrac Adaptive Gating.BackgroundIn selected patients with a limited number of liver metastases, SBRT has been evaluated as a safe and effective treatment, with minimal toxicity and high rates of local control.Materials and methodsFrom April 2008 to October 2013, 21 patients with multiple (3–14) liver metastases (n[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]=[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]101) were treated sequentially with SBRT at our institution. Maximum tumor diameter was 7.5[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]cm. Prior to treatment, internal markers were placed inside or near the tumor. CT or PET-CT simulation was used for the definition of gross tumor volume (GTV). Median planning target volume was 32.3[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]cc (3.6–139.3[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]cc). Treatment consisted of 3 fractions (12–20[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]Gy/fraction) or 5 fractions (10[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]Gy/fraction), prescribed to the 90–95% of the PTV volume. Daily intra-fraction image guidance was performed with ExacTrac Adaptive Gating. Regular follow-up included CT or PET-CT imaging.ResultsAfter a median of 23.2 months, the estimated local control rate was 94.4%, 80.6%, 65% and 65% after 1, 2, 3 and 4 years; the median overall survival was 62 months (95% CI 49.12–74.87) and the actuarial survival reached at 60 months was 57.6%. The univariate data analysis revealed that only primary histology other than colorectal adenocarcinoma was shown as an independent significant prognostic factor for local control (p[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]=[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]0.022). Number of treated metastases did not modify significantly the overall survival (p[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]=[[ce:hsp sp="0.25"/]]0.51). No toxicity higher than G3 (1 patient with chest wall pain) and no radiation-induced liver disease were observed.ConclusionsSequential SBRT with ExacTrac Adaptive Gating for multiple liver metastases can be considered an effective, safe therapeutic option, with a low treatment-related toxicity.     Measurement of the α ratio and (n, γ) cross section of 235U from 0.2 to 200 eV at n_TOF

    We measured the neutron capture-to-fission cross-section ratio (α ratio) and the capture cross section of 235U between 0.2 and 200 eV at the n_TOF facility at CERN. The simultaneous measurement of neutron-induced capture and fission rates was performed by means of the n_TOF BaF2 Total Absorption Calorimeter (TAC), used for detection of γ rays, in combination with a set of micromegas detectors used as fission tagging detectors. The energy dependence of the capture cross section was obtained with help of the 6 Li(n,t) standard reaction determining the n_TOF neutron fluence; the well-known integral of the 235U(n, f ) cross section between 7.8 and 11 eV was then used for its absolute normalization. The α ratio, obtained with slightly higher statistical fluctuations, was determined directly, without need for any reference cross section. To perform the analysis of this measurement we developed a new methodology to correct the experimentally observed effect that the probabilities of detecting a fission reaction in the TAC and the micromegas detectors are not independent. The results of this work have been used in a new evaluation of 235U performed within the scope of the Collaborative International Evaluated Library Organisation (CIELO) Project, and are consistent with the ENDF/B-VIII.0 and JEFF-3.3 capture cross sections below 4 eV and above 100 eV.
