             A scientific calculator (with basic statistical functions to calculate the mean, standard  
       deviation, etc) is required for the course.  However, a graphing calculator is allowed but not

-  Syllabus is subject to change. 
-  The final exam is comprehensive and departmental. 
-  For each test, students are allowed to bring in a 3”x5” formula card (both sides).  For the final exam, a 8.5”x11” (both 
sides) formula sheet is allowed. 
 
 
 
Student Learning Outcomes: 
After the completion of the course students should be able to present data in tables and graphs, calculate 
descriptive measures including measures of location and dispersion, calculate probability of discrete and 
continuous distributions, estimate parameters using point estimates and confidence intervals, and perform 
hypothesis tests. 
Attendance: 
Attendance is required.  Attendance will be taken each class period.  It is your responsibility to find out what is covered 
in class if you do miss a class.  You are also responsible for any announcements made in class. 
 
Prerequisites: MATH 1115 or higher or six hours of MATH courses numbered at least 1000 or an ACT Math score of 
at least 26 or SAT Math Score of  at least 590 or Compass College Algebra score of at least 46. This course may be used 
for degree credit only in the College of Business Administration. 
 
Homework: 
Problems at the end of each section will be assigned for practice.  You are expected to do these assignments so that you 
become familiar with the material. These problems are not to be handed in.  However, other problems will be assigned 
and graded for homework.   These assignments may be handouts or assignments on MyStatLab.   No late homework 
assignments will be accepted.  Homework will be graded upon correctness and averaged together.  There will possibly be 
pop quizzes, which will be included in your homework grade.

Tests: 
Over the course of the semester there will be 4 in-class tests if time permits.  A makeup test will only be given for 
extreme emergencies with a written notice and must be taken promptly.

How class will be taught:  A summary of notes for each section will be provided prior to each section.  They will be 
posted on Moodle.  Students are expected to print these notes and bring them to class.  This course is a lecture based 
course.  If time permits, there may be problem sessions. 
 
Expectations of students:  Students are expected to review the notes prior to each class and do practice problems and 
graded homework on a regular basis.  This is necessary in order to perform well on the tests.  Students are also expected 
to arrive on time, remain for full class session, conduct themselves in a respectful manner to other students and the 
instructor and not use cell phones during class. 
 
Procedures of class:  Instructor will lecture the material and do examples of problems in each section. 
 
Advice on how to study:  Students should look over notes before they are covered in the lecture to get an introduction 
of the topics before they are covered in class.  Students should also review over their notes after each class period and 
work on practice problems that are suggested by the instructor after each section prior to doing the assigned graded 
homework on MyStatLab.   Students should not wait until the night that the graded assignments on MyStatLab are due to 
complete them.  Remember that there are no extensions to due dates even if there is a complication with Connect or your 
internet connection which could prevent you from completing the assignment.   Test reviews may also be provided prior 
to each test.  Students should start working on the review problems ahead of time so that they can ask the instructor 
about any questions they may have.  Students are also expected to understand the concepts of the topics in addition to the 
types of problems on the reviews. 
 
Criteria for each graded assignment:  Assignments must be completed by the due date.  Students are required to show 
work in order to receive full credit on test problems. 
 
Incomplete or late coursework:  Late assignments will not be accepted. 
 
Student Support Services:  Your instructor is your first resource.  Office hours are available for you if you should any 
questions.  Free tutoring is also available in the Math Tutor Center, Room 105 of the Math Building.  Based upon the

Withdrawal Policy – Undergraduate only 
Students are responsible for initiating action to resign from the University (withdraw from all courses) or from a course on or before 
dates indicated in the current Important dates calendar. Students who fail to resign by the published final date for such action will 
be retained on the class rolls even though they may be absent for the remainder of the semester and be graded as if they were in 
attendance. Failure to attend classes does not constitute a resignation. Check the dates on the Registrar’s website,

Incomplete Policy – Undergraduate only 
The grade of I means incomplete and is given for work of passing quality but which, because of circumstances beyond the student's 
control, is not complete. The issuance of the grade of I is at the discretion of the faculty member teaching the course. For all 
graduate and undergraduate students, a grade of I becomes a grade of F if it is not converted before the deadline for adding courses 
for credit (as printed in the Important Dates Calendar) of the next regular semester including summer semester. 
Repeat Policy 
When a student is permitted to repeat a course for credit, the last grade earned shall be the one which determines course 
acceptability for degree credit. A student who has earned a C or better in a course may not repeat that course unless, (1) the catalog 
description indicates that the course may be repeated for credit, or (2) the student's Dean gives prior approval for documented 
extenuating circumstances.
