Abstract

Putnički brodovi jesu brodovi koji prevoze više od 12 putnika. Mogu se podijeliti na prekooceanske brodove, brodove za kružna putovanja, trajekte i obalne brodove. Putnički brodovi moraju zadovoljiti stroge tehničke zahtjeve koji se tiču sigurnosti plovidbe. Međunarodne propise vezane za putničke brodove donosi IMO. Odgovornost IMO-a jest stvoriti standarde koji bi poboljšali sigurnost međunarodne plovidbe i koji bi spriječili onečišćenje mora s brodova. Među propisima IMO-a koji se odnose na putničke brodove jesu SOLAS konvencija iz 1974./1978. godine, MARPOL konvencija iz 1973./1978. godine, PAL konvencija iz 1974. godine te STCW konvencija iz 1978. godine.Pri tome se odredbe SOLAS konvencije odnose na sigurnost putnika na brodu i spašavanje putnika na moru, odredbe MARPOL konvencije na sprječavanje onečišćenja s mora, odredbe PAL konvencije na utvrđivanje odgovornosti u slučaju pretrpljene štete zbog smrti ili tjelesne ozljede putnika, a odredbe STCW konvencije sadrže zahtjeve za posadu na putničkim brodovima o posebnoj obuci o sigurnosti i hitnoj obuci.Passenger ships are ships carrying more than 12 passengers. They can be divided into ocean-going vessels, cruise ships, ferries and coastal boats. Passenger ships must meet stringent and comprehensive technical requirements regarding navigation safety. International regulations concerning passenger ships are issued by the IMO. The IMO's responsibility is to create standards that would enhance the safety of international navigation and prevent seawater pollution from ships. Among the IMO regulations relating to passenger ships are the SOLAS convention 1974/1978, MARPOL convention 1973/1978, the PAL convention 1974 and the STCW convention 1974. The regulations of the SOLAS convention relate to the safety of passengers on board and rescue of passengers at sea, the regulations of the MARPOL convention on the prevention of pollution from the sea, the regulations of the PAL convention on determination of accountability in the event of accident claims of death or personal injury of the passenger, and the regulations of the STCW convention contain requirements for crews on passenger ships on special training on safety and emergency training
