Danielle Reynald worked as a newspaper and television court and crime reporter for the 
Trinidad Express Newspapers and Caribbean Communications Network (CCN)-TV6. 
She graduated with first class honours in Psychology from the University of Surrey in the 
United Kingdom, and completed an M.Sc. in Crime Science at the Jill Dando Institute of 
Crime Science, University College London (UCL). Her Master’s thesis was entitled “A 
Situational Profile of Kidnapping for Ransom in Trinidad & Tobago”. In October 2005, 
she joined the ‘Mobility and Distribution of Crime’ team at the Netherlands Institute for 
the Study of Crime & Law Enforcement (NSCR) as a PhD student investigating the 
routine activity concept of guardianship as a tool through which crime can be controlled.
