Particular emphasis is placed on inductive learning of exegetical Greek, the use of standard exegetical tools and of Bible study software, and linguistics.  Course Objectives 1.  Know and use the Greek alphabet 2.  Interpret basic Greek grammar and syntax 3.  Easily read and pronounce Greek words 4.  Awareness of and hands-on practice with standard reference works for exegesis—both printed and electronic 5.  Use modern linguistics in exegetical study 6.  Know basic characteristics of the Greek New Testament  Course Requirements 1.  Involvement in Class Activities:  This includes regular attendance, engagement with in-class discussions and exercises, and completing reading assignments.  Persons missing more than 3 days of class sessions will not be eligible for a passing grade.   Attendance and Completing Required Reading – 5%  2.  Examinations:  Student progress on reaching the course objectives will be examined as follows:   Alphabet Exam – 5%   Greek Verbs, Cases and Prepositions Exam – 15%   14 Worksheets – 35%   Take Home Final:  Analysis of Passage in 1 John – 40%    Exegetical Worksheet – 5%    Complete Analysis   — 35%  *late work will receive 75% credit    Required Texts Black, David Alan.
