In dieser Arbeit geht es um eine Skulptur der Durgᾱ Mahiṣāsuramardinī in situ auf der Nordseite des Tempels in Bajaura in Himachal Pradesh. Ich habe versucht den Stil dieser Skulptur zu erklären und durch Vergleiche mit ähnlichen Beispielen die Einzigartigkeit der Skulptur zu betonen.
Der erste Teil der Arbeit behandelt den Tempelkomplex und das ikonographische Programm. Der zweite Teil geht ganz auf die Darstellungsformen von Durgᾱ und ihrer Ikonographie ein. Durch den Vergleich mit andern Skulpturen treten zwei interessante Dinge an der Skulptur in Bajaura zu Tage. So ist die Darstellung von Mahiṣa in der Skulptur von Bajaura anders. Hier wird er zweimal gezeigt, aber bei den Vergleichsbeispielen nur einmal. Sehr interessant ist auch der Krieger neben Durgᾱ. In den meisten Skulpturen der Durgᾱ Mahiṣāsuramardinī wird er nicht dargestellt, in Bajaura jedoch befindet er sich auf der linken Seite der Göttin.The content of this work is about a sculpture of Durgᾱ Mahiṣᾱsuramardinī in situ on the north side of the temple in Bajaura, Himachal Pradesh. During this work, I tried to explain the style of this sculpture and in comparison with other similar sculptures, also from this region, I wanted to show the uniqueness of the Durgā sculpture.
The first part of this work is about the temple itself and the iconographic program. The second part deals with the portrayal and iconography of Durgᾱ. In comparison with other sculptures two interesting facts show up. One is that the depiction of Mahiṣa is different, because in Bajaura he is represented two times. An interesting fact is also the warrior beside Durgᾱ. He is not shown in many sculptures, but in this sculpture he is on the left side of the goddess
