Abstract
<p>(A) Time course and (B) dose dependence of hCG treatment on activin βA, activin βB and follistatin mRNA expression at pituitary level. Pituitary cells were treated with hCG (40 IU/ml) for the duration as indicated for the time course experiment. To test for dose dependence, the duration of drug treatment was fixed at 24 hr with cells exposed to increasing levels of hCG. After drug treatment, total RNA was isolated and used for real-time PCR measurement of activin βA, activin βB and follistatin mRNA, respectively. Data presented are pooled results from four experiments and individual groups denoted by different letters represent a significant different at P < 0.05 (ANOVA followed by Newman-Keuls test).</p
