A Simplified PERT System 
The problem: 
As commonly implemented, the PERT (Program 
Evaluation and Review Technique) system for pre-
senting complex program data to management in-
volves the handling and interpretation of large vol-
umes of computer printouts and network charts. 
Additionally, management personnel concerned with 
monitoring the progress of a program require exten-
sive training in PERT techniques. 
The solution: 
A modified PERT technique for processing the 
input data and arranging it in familiar graphic form in 
a booklet of convenient size. The tabulated data in 
this booklet, which is issued at periodic intervals, 
provide quick answers to the most relevant questions 
of concern to program managers and expediters. 
With this type of booklet, the information can be 
quickly made available to management personnel at
various locations to provide a basis for concerted, 
balanced action with regard to the prosecution of the 
program.
