In Sondheim's musical of mixed up fairy tales, Cinderella's prince pours pitch on his palace to hold her there. (He is unsuccessful.) A not-so-very-nai've Little Red Ridinghood sings about life inside a wolf, and the evil witch sings about the magic beans from Jack's Bean Stalk that lead up to the palace of the giants and countless riches.
