Jet physics at CMS

Abstract

Measurements of the high momentum jet production in protonproton collisions at √s = 7TeV and 8TeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC are summarized. The CMS experimental program in this domain is, on the one hand, oriented toward the observables which may help to constrain the QCD parameters: strong coupling constant and evolution and proton PDF. On the other hand, a large effort is dedicated to the understanding of the conditions under which the soft gluon radiation plays an important role in the LHC physics. Different MC parton showering models are studied and measurements are provided to improve them
