Childhood in Wisconsin. Father moves to Bull Creek, Humboldt County. Bill travels to Eureka at age 16, via British Columbia, Spokane, Garfield, Washingon. Sets off for Eureka, and starts to get educated in the "Art of Hobo Life" Arrives in Crescent C-ity and- seeks food - and work. One day job at newspaper in Crescent City. Gets job on ship going to Eureka with Capt. Peterson. Tiavels to Rio Dell. George Murry help) conductor Ma£.Works at Metropolitan for Hammond Lumber Co. (and two weeks at Scotia). "Chinamen Scare". • Six chinese brought to Ferndale. Works at Star Hotel - ·Fortuna (and Clarence Kramer, �lph Kraner) Searching for work and again works for �r. Georg� and Mrs. Creichton cooks at hotel. Travels to join mother and sister in 8:1\�katchewan. teaves Eureka on "George W. Elder". 1908 -09 Starts 37 years.of roving. Locates father's grave bn� rmention of Justice of Peace�) Travels to Riverside. 1947 - resettles in Humboldt County. Places visited when stayed Eureka and business in business district on Second Street, Western Hotel now the Monte Carlo. Mr. Murx:y1 Revere Hotel run by�-Places visited and stayed in the years of traveling around Western States and Canadian provinces. Famous and infamous people encountered along the way (Several names mentioned of people outside of Northern California area). Engaged in large numner of occupations.
