Admission is free. Performances are at 7p.m., Friday and Saturday October 12th and 13th, and Sunday,October 14th at 2 p.m. Sing Protest, Sing Peace is directed byguest director Isabel Nelson, ’04. For reservations call the boxoffice at 651-696-6359.Sing Protest, Sing Peace kicks off the Theatre and DanceDepartment’s season theme of “Youth Cultures,” setting thestage for a season of new and devised work. Using physicaltheatre techniques and the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq, anensemble of six Macalester first-years, guided by award-winning Fringe director Isabel Nelson ’04, breathe life into anot-so-distant story of social unrest: the history of textileworkers in turn-of-the century America.  With New York Cityas its background, and the Uprising of the 20,000 in 1909-10and the Triangle Fire of 1911 as its historical inspiration, SingProtest, Sing Peace investigates questions of love, duty, andhonor in a time of struggle.The cast, all class of 2016, consists of Laura Humes ofShoreline, Wash., Hannah Merrill of Seattle, Wash., RebeccaMurtha of Silver Spring, Md., Zoe Nardone of North Bennington, Vt., Jon Riddle of Minneapolis, Minn., andStacy Rozansky of Larchmont, N.Y.Macalester College, founded in 1874, is a national liberal arts college with a full-time enrollment of 2,035students.
