Erarbeitung eines Naehrstoffatlas der Nordsee Darstellung der Naehrsalzgradienten in der zentralen Nordsee

Abstract

In the frame of the annual German Young Fish and Summer Fish Survey samples for nutrient analyses were taken and analysed from 1984 to 1998. Maps already existing until 1994 of surface distributions of nutrients, salinity and water temperature of the North Sea and bottom maps for summer seasons were completed until 1998 and supplemented by correlation diagrams. In standardized form vertical profiles crossing the central North Sea at 1.5 E and 56.5 N are presented visualizing the spatial expansion of nutrient-poor mixed layers and nutrient-rich bottom layers. Maps of means and corresponding standard deviations illustrate the most important influences on the nutrient regime of the North Sea and show areas of high interannual variability. Temporal developments were presented for selected areas and compared with the NOWESP data set.
