What else would make him anoctopus? He should be in the water and not on land! Unfortunately, he is abit afraid of the water and wants nothing to do with it. He finally gains thecourage to take swimming lessons, going into the water and believing he issinking to the bottom of the pool before he realizes he is swimming. Now hehas freedom! Terry can visit his parents and play with his friends who live inthe ocean. He does wonder, though, if it is okay to pee in the sea a little.The illustrations are clearly a wonderful addition to the story. From the firstpage of the introduction, a lot is happening to enjoy. Terry’s cart isoverflowing with the cans of tuna he loves so much. On the opposite page,one sees that there is a 50% off sign for the tuna and that Terry has left onecan that a boy is just holding and staring at with what seems to be disbelief.On his way home, the cats are following his canned tuna trail. The pages arefull of color, text, and entertaining illustrations. When Terry learns to swim,the text flows around him to emulate the water and his movements. This isa book young readers will enjoy as they read and learn about animals andbeing brave.
