Niles, 111 Broadway, New York.Dear Mr. Niles:As you already know the Committee on Annual Meeting 1909 propose to give Accounting Terminology a prominent place upon the program of the Denver meeting. A Committee consisting of Messrs. Seymour Walton, James T. Anyon and Edward L. Suffern is now engaged in collating and arranging definitions of accounting words and phrases with a view to preparing a comprehensive statement as to present usuages and the variations therein. It was thought that this Committee could serve a larger purpose in this way than it could by attempting to determine the best definitions. It is hoped that the Committee’s Report can be completed by the end of August so as to afford an opportunity for preparation for a full discussion at Denver.In order that the discussion may be properly directed the Com­mittee has decided to follow the precedent set at our recent annual meet­ings and to ask certain members of the Association to open the discussion on the several papers. The Committee on Annual Meeting has decided to ask Mr. Harvey S. Chase of Boston, yourself and Mr. George R. Webster of San Francisco to give some consideration to the Report of the Committee on Accounting Terminology and to open the discussion thereon.
