O estudo objetiva compreender a importância da contribuição da Ciência da Inf ormação para a avaliação da produção do conhecimentocientíf icoa partir de uma pesquisa bibliográf ica. Apresenta a evolução histórica da área abordada, a sua relação c om as mediçõesquantitativasda ciência e as técnicas de análise estatística: bibliometria e cientometria.
