English Teachers' Strategy in Conducting Lesson in New Normal Era After Pandemic Covid-19 at SMP N 2 Kartasura

Abstract

Sudden changes from online to offline learning encourages the English teacher adapt teaching strategies to new normal situation. There were limited studies conducted on this topic. Hence, it is very beneficial to explore the strategy applied by teachers in this context. Specifically, this research was to find out the teachers’ strategy in conducting lessons in the new normal era after the pandemic. This is qualitative research that was conducted in SMP N 2 Kartasura. To find the strategies applied by the teachers, the researchers interviewed three English teachers at the school. The researchers also observed their classes. This study used triangulation techniques to bring the truth of valid data. The result of this research showed that the teachers at SMP N 2 Kartasura used several strategies namely, 1) changing students' psychosocial; 2) direct question and answer; 3) authentic materials; 4) using game and interesting video. The findings imply that the teachers at SMP N 2 Kartasura have creative and innovative teaching abilities
