Issues from the history of the specialist magazine for librarians of Lower Silesia „Książka i Czytelnik” (1956-2015)

Abstract

Pismo o profilu skierowanym do bibliotekarzy bibliotek publicznych Dolnego Śląska jest wydawane przez Dolnośląską Bibliotekę Publiczną im. Tadeusza Mikulskiego we Wrocławiu. Pierwotnie, od 1956 r., miało tytuł „Materiały Metodyczne”, który zmieniono w 1981 r. na „Książka i Czytelnik”. W 2005 r. powstała strona internetowa pisma, a od 2010 r. archiwalne numery upubliczniano w internetowej Bibliotece Cyfrowej. Od początku 2016 r. pismo jest po raz trzeci w swej historii zawieszone. W artykule omówiono zmiany pisma na przestrzeni jego dziejów oraz przeanalizowano zawartość w celu odpowiedzenia na pytanie o przyczyny zawieszenia pisma.A magazine with a profile addressed to librarians of public libraries in Lower Silesia is published by the Lower Silesian Public Library Tadeusz Mikulski in Wroclaw. Originally, since 1956, it had the title “Methodological Materials” (“Materiały Metodyczne”), which was changed in 1981 to “Book and Reader” (“Książka i Czytelnik”). In 2005, the magazine’s website was created, and since 2010, archival issues have been published in the Digital Library. From the beginning of 2016, the magazine is suspended for the third time in its history. The article discusses the changes of the magazine throughout its history and analyzes the subject content to answer the question about the reasons for suspension of the magazine
