It is with a heavy heart that I write to you about the senseless acts of violence at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life Synagogue this weekend, as well as in Kentucky, where two African Americans were slain at a grocery store. We stand in solidarity with our students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and community whose beliefs or cultures have made them a target for violence. At Wright State University, our diversity of thought, background, faith, and culture will always be our greatest strength. Know that discrimination of any kind will never be tolerated at Wright State. We are a welcoming and inclusive campus for all people. We cherish the richness that comes to our lives from our diverse beliefs and cultures. Some of you may be fearful, hurting, or having a difficult time processing recent events. And next week is our annual Kristallnacht lecture, featuring Holocaust survivor Samuel Heider on November 7 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Student Union Endeavour Room.
