Abstract

SMEs play an important role in the economy. However, the development of SMEs in Indonesia still has many obstacles, one of which is the funding problems due to several things. One of the reasons why SMEs are still difficult to obtain credit from banks is a problem of information asymmetry between banks and SMEs applying for a loan. In the institutional aspect, one of the criteria in assessing SMEs will succeed, ie social capital. Rate non-financial aspects of using social capital becomes necessary to be considered. The premise put forward in the use of social capital is greater the social capital owned by SMEs, the success rate at the same time that business continuity is greater than that do not have or social capital is not great. The concept of social capital can increase the success and sustainability of SMEs due to the social capital that is owned, SMEs easy to obtain the trust of the stakeholders. The existence of such trust, enables SMEs to be able to accumulate assets, such as good human resources, and access to credit due to the opening of the information and the latter could get a collective action or community support activities
