Term scene design relates to professional, artistic, curatorial, theoretical and educational practices developed from the expanded meaning of scenography – as semantic category and artistic discipline. In professional theatre practice, scene design connects several artistic disciplines, joint together in the process of creating a space for theatre performance. As a complex artistic and curatorial practice, scene design stands at the crossroads of theatre, architecture and visual arts, united in the field of interdisciplinary art. By taking the space “in between” disciplines, scene design becomes an open model for artistic research and practice, serving as a core drive for a large number of new or transformed artistic and curatorial works. Every creative process which includes scenic way of thinking and scenographic means of expression, and aims at realisation of performing space, can be defined as scene design artwork. The research included presentation, analysis and evaluation of ten case studies of artistic and curatorial practices of scene design. The analysis aimed at showcasing diversity of artistic outcomes, forms and means of expression, variety of performing environments and types of audience, as well as specific circumstances in which works were created or diversity of media used. At the same time, insight into development of scene design works outside theatre practice resulted in establishing three of its key characteristics – multimedia nature of scene design, essential role of space in scene design works and specific relation between performer and audience

Predmet doktorskog umjetničkog projekta „Istraživanje individualnog i kolektivnog identiteta u Bosni i Hercegovini: umjetničko djelo scenskog dizajna” je istraživanje aspekata i odnosa individualnog i kolektivnog identiteta u Bosni i Hercegovini. The scope of the dissertation “Exploring Individual and Collective Identity in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Scene Design Art Work” covers the aspects and relations of the individual and the collective identity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following the parallels between the two lines of analysis – theoretical and artistic research of the personal and the collective within national and cultural identities on one hand, as well as their manifestations, through the case study of the scene design art work – performative exhibition “Ko bi Bog u Bosni bio?” (“Who would be God in Bosnia?”) on the other, a framework is laid for the formulation of thecandidate’s view of scene design as a new art form, its definition, methodology and the range of practice

[EN] This work depicts the way in which the term of scene design is formed, used and developed in professional and educational system in the Republic of Serbia. The introductory part presents what that term means, how it was made and how it has evolved since the 90s. The main part of the work by means of particular examples shows how scene design was first a specific methodology in educating the students of architecture at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, then how establishing the studies of scene design at the same faculty made this methodology evolve into the professional field, where new and authentic research methods relating space emerged. Method of performing is outlined and analysed as one of that new methods, formed in the processes of contemplation, articulation, and realisation of performance space through different parts of the curriculum of new scene design studies. The goal of the work is to show the potential of this method for thorough research not only of performance space but space in general. Likewise, to show how this method could be a valuable tool in educating not only scene design and architecture students, but all the other educational profiles interested in spatial research and spatial design.http://ocs.editorial.upv.es/index.php/HEAD/HEAD18Milićević, S. Projektovan u doba socijalističke izgradnje, manifestacioni trg sa zelenilom u Kragujevcu vremenom je pretrpeo mnoge izmene. Podeljen je na dve celine, a zatim fragmentisan parkingom i nedefinisanom zelenom zonom. Intervencija, bioskop na otvorenom, jeste programska transformacija kroz „povratak“ prvobitno zamišljenoj kolektivnoj upotrebi prostora. Za projekciju je odabran film iz socijalističke epohe “Prvi građanin male varoši”.Designed in the period of socialist construction, the square with greenery that served for organising events in Kragujevac has undergone many changes over time. It is divided in two wholes, and then fragmented by the parking area and an undefined green zone. The intervention – an open-air cinema – represents a programme transformation, i.e. “return” to the originally conceived collective use of space. The film selected for projection comes from the socialist epoch and that is “The First Citizen of a Small Town

    Perceptual stratification: Scene Design Artwork

Krajnji ishod jeste umetničko delo scenskog dizajna u formi višemedijske prostorne intervencije 3000ms.The subject of the doctoral art project is the research on the politics of perception, i.e. the ways in which the specificities of human perception and cognition regulate the relationship between the subject and the world, thus opening up the possibility for their examination in the context of art. The term perceptual stratification has been employed to denote specific situations in the context of art - constructed deviations from the expected, in which we begin to turn our attention to and perceive the very processes of perception and cognition, which thus become the basis of the artistic process in the field of scene design. Through the analysis of referential artworks, the phenomenon of perceptual stratification has been investigated in the context of art and particularly scene design, in order to establish a basis for one's own artistic practice. Special attention was paid to time perception, in order to re-examine subjective time as a construct conditioned by the specifics of human perception and cognition in the domain of art determined by the phenomenon of perceptual stratification. The end result is a scene design artwork in the form of a multimedia spatial intervention 3000ms

Krajnji ishod jeste umetničko delo scenskog dizajna u formi višemedijske prostorne instalacije, pod nazivom Dvoje. The subject of the doctoral art project is the evaluation of the story of Adam and Eve through art in different socio-historical conditions – from the emergence and development of Christianity to present time marked with Fourth industrial revolution. Theoretical research encompasses the hermeneutics of the biblical text and provides insight into various thematic frameworks such as freedom, love, and morality. By situating the biblical text in a contemporary context, other topics related to the phenomenon of vulnerability are found. Research in art includes reference artworks from the early Christian period to the present day. The end result is a scene design artwork in the form of a multimedia spatial installation, called The Two
