Palm oil is one of the major fats and oils produced in Indonesia, which is of great value in the diet of many people. The quality of palm oil could be affected by various factors ranging from improper postharvest handling, processing and storage. Recently, there has been wide spread speculation that palm oil is adulterated in order to maximize profit (Madubuike et al., 2015). The quality parameters of palm oil are generally determined by the moisture content, impurity, specific gravity, percentage of free fatty acid (FFA), iodine value, peroxide value and saponification values. The objective of this research therefore was to evaluate the quality of palm oil samples obtained from elaeis guineensis growing areas of the PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong-PTPN II North Sumatera. The results showed that mean value of the quality parameters are 0.15% moisture content; 5.71% impurity level; 0.935 specific gravity;8.43% FFA; 52.13 iodine value; 13.71meq/kg peroxide value; and 181,89 mg KOH/g saponification value. The quality parameters are associated with the method of processing. Keywords: Moisture Content, Impurity, Specific Gravity, Percentage Of Free Fatty Acid, Iodine Value, Peroxide Value And Saponification Values

This study was aim to to analyze Consumer perception in Medan against local and import fruits as well as any factors affecting consumer products to purchase local and import fruits. Some 350 respondents were interviewed using a questionnaire. The data is obtained has been analyzed using descriptive analysis, perception analysis, factor analysis and test data quality. The descriptive analysis shows that the majority of respondents were aged 17-24 years, male 72,9%, college students and recent high school education 93,4 %. In the analysis of the perception there are 350 respondents who answered the questionnaire returns and then there were 263 respondents to know when to ask Do you know about the local fruits on the market, while 87 respondents have heard and know little. Ther are 350 respondents who answered the questionnaire returns and there were 186 respondents who answered knew when asked Do you know about fruit imports in the market. The remaining 162 respondents had heard of but knew little and 2 respondents claimed not to know. For the factor analysis KMO test value obtained for 0.746 (great for the meticulous sampling), commonality 0.384 to 0.770 and total variance is 46,986 percent. In the quality test data on the reliability of the test can be of value for Cronbach's Alpha based on standardized items 0.782 is greater than the basic standard Cronbach's Alpha 0.756 which can be deduced that the grains realibel questions. Keywords: Perception, Local, Import, Fruit, Meda

AbstractThe research was conducted using case study methods (case study). This study aims to determine how to influence the level of capital, labor, experience, education and age of farmers' income levels and how the feasibility of areca nut farm. Research hypotheses are tested using multiple linear regression and the method of R / C ratio (Revenue / Cost). From the research results obtained by the R-square 0.98 identifies that it is simultaneously (synchronously) no significant effect between capital, labor, experience, education and age of the areca farmers' income by 98% the rest influenced by other variables not examined. From the test results are obtained stasistik multiple R-square value of 0.99% means that overall there is a strong influence between capital, labor, experience, education and age of areca farmers' income levels, it is supported by the calculated F-value F-table at the 95% confidence level (a 0.05) thereby H0 refused and H1 accepted. No effect of partial capital, experience and age on the level of areca farmers' income in this case is supported by the value t count t-table, while the labor and education had no effect on the income level of farmers nut on a 95% confidence level. The results of the calculation, the nut farm viability obtained was R / C ratio of 1.82. This means that the nut farm is now worth the effort or can provide benefits. Keywords: sosial-economy, farmers' income, farme

Inovasi Baru Buah Nanas sebagai Alternatif Pengganti Feromon Kimiawi untuk Perangkap Hama Penggerek Batang (Oryctes rhinoceros L.) pada Tanaman Kelapa Sawit di Areal Tanah Gambut

The attack of the Oryctes rhinoceros beetle on oil palm plantations can reduce yield by 60% at the first harvest and cause death by 25% in immature plants. The use of pheromone traps in oil palm plantations is an excellent alternative for controlling horn beetles. The purpose of this research is to find out the new innovation of pineapple as an alternative substitute for chemical pheromones for the trapping of stem borer (Oryctes rhinoceros) in oil palm plants on the peat soil area. This study uses Faktorial Non Faktorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) 5 Treatment in the field. The results of the research that we have done, the highest treatment is in P5 and the lowest treatment is in P

AbstractThis study aims to find ways of making nata with a comparison of sugar and a long fermentation on the quality of nata de banana skin. This study uses a complete Randomized Design (CRD) factorial. The results of statistical analysis on each parameter: The amount of sugar and a long fermentation differ very real effect on yield. The number of long fermentation guladan different effect not significant (p> 0.05) on pH. Number of different sugars affect highly significant (p <0.01) to the TSS. The amount of sugar and a long fermentation different effect highly significant (p <0.01) of thickness. Treatment interaction effect is not significant (p> 0.05) of thickness. The amount of sugar and a long fermentation influence erbeda highly significant (p <0.01) against violence. Treatment interaction effect is not significant (p> 0.05) to violence. The amount of sugar and a long fermentation influence not differ significantly (p> 0.05) for color. Treatment interaction effect is not significant (p> 0.05) on color. Keywords:banana skin,  nata de banana  skin, comparison of sugar, fermentatio

This study aims to determine the growth response of some kind of clone of cocoa ( Theobroma cacao L. ) with an organic fertilizer in a polybag with using randomized block design (RBD ) factorial with 2 factors studied , namely : The first factor is Organic Fertilizer ( O ) divided into 3 levels ie O0 = Without Giving , O1 = Amazing Bio Fertilizer Growth ( ABG ) and O2 = Fertilizer Super Bionic , and the second factor varieties Cocoa ( K ) is divided into three types namely TSH K1 = 858 , K2 = 70 and K3 = RCC PA 300 . While the parameters measured were plant height ( cm ) , number of leaves ( blade ) , stem diameter ( mm ) , leaf area ( cm ) , root fresh weight ( g ) , stem fresh weight ( g ) , root dry weight ( g ) , stem dry weight ( g ) and root volume ( cc ) . The results showed that the use of organic fertilizers provide a significant effect on the parameters of plant height , leaf number , stem diameter , leaf area , stem fresh weight , and root volume and provide no real influence on the parameters of the wet weight of the rod . Treatment varieties only significant effect on plant height parameters , and no real influence on the other parameters .While the interaction of treatment showed a marked influence on the parameters for a high cocoa seedlings and other parameters showed no real difference.Key wordas : organic fertilizer, growth, coco
