    POD: Plenty Of Dogs

    Get PDF
Finding the ideal match for dog breeding has never been an easy task for most dog owners in different parts of the world, including Ireland. Seeking an opportunity to minimise this problem, a lovely user-friendly web application called Plenty Of Dogs (POD) was developed to facilitate dog owners to found a perfect match for their dogs, according to their search criteria. Besides that, dog owners will also be able to find new friends to their doggies. Initially, only the Republic of Ireland will be benefited from POD services. To achieve this goal, this project was divided into five distinct phases: Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Testing. Respectively, all these different stages were accomplished respecting the main premises of the software development life cycle. Planning versus reality played an important role throughout the whole project. Results, technical solutions, and challenges are discussed comparing what worked well to what did not work as expected. All architecture designed to develop POD is also presented, emphasising the use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap on the client-side, PHP on the server-side, MySQL database, and AWS to the deployment of the application on the cloud platform. Then, a general overview of the whole development is made presenting the final version of the prototype and all documents produced along with the project. A suggestion for further works is given and necessary improvements are highlighted

RETAIL HEALTH & SAFETY DIGITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Health and Safety procedures and documentations are one of the many tasks that need to be done by a small retail shop, they are also one of the most difficult things to manage daily as all those can build up during the day/week. Inside Health and Safety there are many subcategories that need to be administered (maintenances, trainings and checklists for example) which can be very overwhelming for any management team notably in small retail shops as they do not have the permanent personnel to be able to maintain an organised system. This project aims to create a management software to assist a business to conduct all those procedures in an easier and more efficient manner

Loyalty systems are commonly used to build and improve relationships between business and customers. Throughout history they evolved and became almost essential for small businesses such as coffee shops or small local stores. In this paper we will analyze existing loyalty systems that are presented in the world and Irish market, how they are used in the coffee shop industry and how new technologies can change and shape this industry. We examined multiple coffee shops brands present in Ireland and their rewards systems. We compared their loyalty systems using alternative methodologies and theoretical lenses in order to find new ways to approach the subject of customer retention and loyalty. Our main goal was to make a brand new system which will offer a turnkey solution for the industry. Another goal was to simplify interaction with loyalty systems in such a way that customers will participate in it without even noticing any discomfort. This process can be achieved by using Near Field Communication chips that can be found in any smart-devices such as phones and watches, or bank cards that have the contactless payment option. We also considered ethical and data storing risks that the new system might bring. The product that was built during this research project represents only a Minimal Viable Candidate, and still needs to pass a long way before it can be implemented in the real market. On the other hand we hope it can start a movement in the right direction and impact the industry in the near future

Gender Differences in Leadership: An Investigation into Female Leadership Styles and Affective Organisational Commitment

    Get PDF
As many women enter the ranks of leadership, more research is conducted and needed. Through qualitative analyses based on bibliographic research, this study aims to explore the gender differences in leadership, providing an investigation into female leadership styles and affective organisational commitment. The review and analysis of existing literature demonstrated that the transformational leadership style is more typical of females than male leaders. The study’s findings also indicate that there are differences between female and male leaders’ styles and traits, reinforcing the existing leadership gender stereotype that female leaders are seen as more emotional, supportive, caring, and people-oriented. In contrast, male leaders are identified as more assertive, directive and task-oriented. Furthermore, it appears that there is a positive association between female leadership and affective commitment. However, during the literature analysis, a scarcity of studies dedicated to understanding this relationship was identified. Therefore, further research is required to confirm and better analyse the relationship between female leadership and affective organisational commitment
