    Radiative ?b-??-? decay

    No full text
Recently, the LHCb Collaboration performed first search for the rare radiative ?b-??-? decay and put an upper limit, B(?b-??-?)<1.3×10-4, on its branching ratio. The measurement agrees well with existing theory prediction using SU(3) flavor symmetry method, but shows a slight tension with the previous prediction from light-cone sum rules. Inspired by this, we investigate this decay as well as other radiative decays of ?b0(-)(?b?-) to ? 0 (-) and ? 0 (-) baryons using the form factors calculated from light-cone QCD sum rules in full theory. we obtain B(?b-??-?)=1.08-0.49+0.63×10-5, which lies below the upper limit set by LHCb and is consistent with flavor-symmetry driven prediction. Our predictions on other channels may be checked in experiment and by other phenomenological approaches. © 2022, The Author(s).Iran's National Elites Foundation, INEF: ISEF/M/400150K. THE EFFECT OF RETICULOCYTE HEMOGLOBIN CONTENT ON THE DIAGNOSIS OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA: A META-ANALYSIS STUDY

    No full text
Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common type of anemia worldwide and has many adverse effects on life quality. This meta-analysis study aims to show that reticulocyte hemoglobin content (CHr) is more effective than routinely used parameters in the diagnosis of IDA. Methods: Comprehensive and systematic research was done using international databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, and Google Scholar, which contain all articles published on IDA until December 29, 2020. Seventeen articles were included in the meta-analysis. Results: The analyses found the Cohens deffect size (Standardized Mean Difference) values of the parameters. Accordingly, CHr is 2.84 (95% CI 2.36 to 3.31), mean corpus volume (MCV) is 2.46 (95% CI 1.97 to 2.95), ferritin is 2.37 (95% CI 1.63 to 3.11), and transferrin saturation (TSAT) is 3.76 (95% CI 2.14 to 5.38). To diagnose IDA, the sensitivity value of the CHr concentration was found as 83.5% (95% CI 76.1 to 89.8), specificity value to be 91.8% (95% CI 85.5 to 96.4), and mean cut-off value as 28.2 pg. Conclusions: The results of our study reveal the findings that CHr is a better biomarker than MCV and ferritin used in determining IDA, and its efficacy is lower than TSAT. It is very important to use it routinely for the pre-diagnosis of IDA, which is very important for public health. The groups in the study are heterogeneous but contain bias. Therefore, meta analyses of studies with less heterogeneity of CHr are needed

High-performance triboelectric nanogenerator based on carbon nanomaterials functionalized polyacrylonitrile nanofibers

    No full text
Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are one of the most promising energy sources for self-powered electronic devices in the near future. Improving the dielectrics with high tribo-potential is a primary requirement to increase the output performance of TENGs. In this study, spring supported TENGs consisting of polyvinylpyrrolidone/ethyl-cellulose (PVP/EC) nanofibers and various carbon-doped polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers as positive and negative dielectric layers, respectively, were fabricated. According to the experimental results, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and carbon nanotube (CNT) which were grafted to PAN matrix, both increased surface charge density and enhanced the output voltage of the TENGs. On the other hand, carbon black (CB) reduced the tribo-potential of PAN as a negative dielectric layer. As the best result, a 40 x 40 mm(2) TENG constructed of PVP/EC and 3 wt% CNT doped PAN nanofibers demonstrates high triboelectric characteristics with a charge capacity of 260 nC (under 0.022 mF capacitive load), a maximum peak output voltage of 960 V (under a 70 MU load resistance), and a maximum peak power density of 14.6 W/m(2) (under a 14.6 MU load resistance). In other words, the addition of 3 wt% CNT to PAN increased the charge amount by 136%, and the maximum peak power density by 125%. This work presents an effective way to take advantage of the coupling effect of carbon additive and nanofiber structure to significantly enhance the output performance of TENGs. Flow optimization in a microchannel with vortex generators using genetic algorithm

    No full text
In this study, delta winglet-type vortex generators, widely used in conventional macro channels and proven to be effective, are used in microchannels to increase their heat transfer capacities. The effects of vortex generators on heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics are studied numerically for different angles of attack, vortex generator arrangement type, the transverse and longitudinal distance between vortex generators, vortex generator length and height, and different Reynolds numbers. The thermal and hydraulic characteristics are presented as the Nusselt number, the friction factor, and the performance evaluation criteria number (PEC) that takes into account the heat transfer enhancement and the corresponding increase in pressure loss. The variation of Nu/Nu0, f/f0, and PEC are found to be in the range of 1.03-1.87, 1.04-1.8, and 0.92-1.62, respectively. A multi-objective optimization study are performed with the response surface methodology analysis to see how different parameters affect heat transfer and pressure loss and to determine the most optimum design. Besides, local sensitivity analysis study is carried out through the RSM, and water inlet velocity for heat transfer enhancement is found to be the most effective parameter. Among the geometric parameters, vortex generator height is determined as the most effective factor. Finally, practical Nusselt number and friction factor correlations taking many parameters into account are proposed to be able to compare the results of other researchers, and for engineers designing microchannel cooling systems

An integrated framework for sustainable supplier development through supplier evaluation based on sustainability indicators

    No full text
The chemical industry has growing importance in sustainability because of the potential adverse effects on the environment. Also, stakeholders emphasize many social issues besides environmental protection for the chemical industry. Relying on a solid supplier base has become the main prerequisite for chemical manufacturers to achieve environmental targets and fulfill stakeholders' expectations while remaining competitive. This study develops the Integrated Sustainable Supplier Evaluation & Development Framework (ISSED-F) to support chemical manufacturers with managing supplier relationships according to the economic, environmental, and social facets of sustainability. Although the literature is rife with evaluation models aiming to fulfill the supplier selection tasks, these models mostly ignore the developmental role of supplier evaluation. To remedy this gap, ISSED-F adopts a deductive and holistic approach from setting the criteria to setting the measurement structure, evaluating the suppliers, and developing the suppliers. Materiality analysis, Analytic Network Process (ANP), Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE), and cluster analysis are the fundamental methods that constitute the ISSED-F structure. A case study presents the use of the ISSED-F in a transnational chemical manufacturer's supplier relationship management (SRM) process. The case company evaluates 69 suppliers and assigns development strategies to the relevant performance segments within the implementation. The successful implementation of ISSED-F shows that it can be a roadmap for chemical manufacturers to adopt sustainability practices and ensure continuous development in their supply chains. © 2022 Elsevier LtdThis research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors
