    THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION OF UNIVERSITI KUALA LUMPUR – TEKNOPUTRA ALUMNI

    Purpose: The unemployment rate among graduates is considered high in Malaysia despite concerted efforts taken by the Malaysian government in resolving the issue.  If this issue is not tackled immediately by the government, the unemployment rate may soar and hence lead to social problems in the country. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention of Universiti Kuala Lumpur TEKNOPUTRA Alumni. Methodology: An online survey was conducted to explore if there is a relationship between entrepreneurship education the graduates had received at the university and their entrepreneurial intention to become entrepreneurs. About 50 graduates responded to the survey and they consisted of male and female graduates most of who were aged between 20 and 25 with less than 2 years of working experience. The sample had ventured into service types of business while others were sole proprietors, and most of them have been involved in their business for less than 5 years. Results: Cronbach Alpha values for the reliability analysis of items for entrepreneurship education (α=0.953) and entrepreneurial intention (α=0.893) show that the items are reliable. Inferential statistics, that is Pearson r correlation was run to determine the relationship between the independent variable, entrepreneurship education and the dependent variable entrepreneurship intention. Implications:  Pearson Correlation analysis shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurship educations with entrepreneurial intention among TEKNOPUTRA Alumni. In short, this implies that most of the TEKNOPUTRA Alumni agreed that entrepreneurship education they had received at the university has influenced their entrepreneurial intention to become entrepreneurs

    Purpose: An improvement of education quality and learning process to face the recent challenges involves many aspects of an education system. One of them is the teacher’s quality. Multiculturalism quality of the teacher is a crucial factor because it enables them to hold and sustain the education well. The paper is aimed at analyzing a teacher with a wide vision of multiculturalism educating her students of complex problems reflected in the Freedom Writers movie. Methodology: It is a qualitative paper. The data consist of two types of data i.e. primary data consisting of texts of the movie relating to the topic and secondary one covering the data that support the analysis. The technique of the data collection is carried out as follows watching and examining the movie, selecting the proper data suitable with the topic and presenting the data for the analysis. The technique of the data analysis is done through library research using descriptive method and applying the theory of Sociology of Literature of Laurenson and Swingewood. Results: The result is a teacher with a great vision of multiculturalism can educate well students of a very complex problem and different social backgrounds. Implications: Its implication on the Indonesian education is that in the movie, the teacher figure of Gruwell can inspire not only the Indonesian teachers but also all people involved in education to brush up their vision and knowledge of multiculturalism in the frame of increasing the quality of national education and in the end of the day it can strengthen the feeling of nationalism to the country, Indonesia

    THE SEARCH FOR NEW MEASURES IN ORGANISATIONAL COMMUNICATION: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

    Purpose of the study: Communication is a central pillar in organisation, yet little genuine communication takes place in the organisation. The purpose of the paper is to craft communication model that promotes routine information availability and accessibility by simplifying the approach to organisational communication through the leadership level, functional level and operational level. Methodology: The study applied systematic literature review (SLR) or systematic research synthesis (SRS) as the approach to gather data, analyse to address the research query. The study method embraces the definition of SLR by Rousseau et al. (2008). The conditions for literature search electronically was done through multiple journal sites. The gathered published material dated between 1961-2018. Main Findings: The paper put forward three propositions to establish the argument for organisational communication. The findings show that there is no definitive agreement what constitute organisational communication as it is given many names like internal communication, employee communication, corporate communication etc. There is total lack of structural approach to organisational communication. Applications of this study: The paper refocuses organisational communication towards a three-tier approach and challenges leadership to communicate in tandem with managerial roles as purported by Mintzberg in order to give prominence to organisational communication. Novelty/Originality of this study: The paper introduces three new dimensions as measures of organisational communication with a new perspective on leadership communication, where Mintzberg’s managerial roles were used as reference for leadership communication responsibility which is missing in today’s organisation. The new measures of organisational communication are leadership level, functional and operational level

    ISLAMIC BANK VS CONVENTIONAL BANK: THE DIFFERENCES OF MANAGEMENT COMMUNICATION TO STAKEHOLDERS USING INTERNET FINANCIAL REPORTING

    Purpose of the study: This study discusses the differences of Internet Financial Reporting Quality between Islamic Bank and Conventional Bank in Indonesia as a means of banking management communication with their stakeholders. The Internet Financial Reporting quality form assessed by four components based on Internet Financial Reporting Index, which are content, timeliness, technology and user support. Methodology: This study used a quantitative approach with independent sample T-test. The hypothesis testing tool is assisted by SPSS 22 data processing software. The data of this study were collected from the official website for each bank institution, and for the sample that chooses this study used a purposive sampling technique. Main Findings: : There is a significant difference at the 5% significance level between Internet Financial Reporting quality between the two, with the result that conventional bank has better quality than Islamic bank. On the contrary, in the technology and user support component, there are insignificant differences. Applications of this study: The results of this study are useful for several parties involved. First for the stakeholders of the banking industry in Indonesia. Second for banks in Indonesia. Third for regulators, it is expected to be able to provide more detailed regulations. Finally, it gave an opportunity to other researchers for making some further study. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research is the first study that comprehensively compares the quality of Internet Financial Reporting in Islamic and conventional banking institutions. This study also succeeded to find that in management communication to stakeholders using Internet Financial Reporting, Islamic Banks were able to compete with Conventional Banks

    Purpose: The main objective of the current study is exploring the impact of firm’s strategic orientation on the supply chain agility. In addition to that the current study has examined the impact of environmental uncertainties on the agile supply chain. Therefore, the study is among the pioneering studies on the issues. This research study contributes to the existing literature. Methodology: The research has worked on the need for analyzing the influence of supply chain and market orientation on supply chain agility of a firm so, current study has used hierarchal regression as statistical tool to answer the research questions raised in this study and research objectives envisaged in the current study. Results: The findings of the current study have provided support to with the proposed. The results have shown that the along with customer focus approach the firms are also following the production focus approach. The findings pf the study will be helpful for policy makers in understanding the issues related to integration supply chain management.
