Imagination in entrepreneurship : an inspiration from Heidegger

    Get PDF
Entrepreneur's imagination has crucial implication on business success and management. Despite its espoused importance, imagination is still undervalued and deserves more academic attention. The current article aims to provide a novel perspective on imagination informed by Heidegger (1889-1976; widely acknowledged to be one of the most original philosophers of the 20th century). Specifically, the article has clarified the definition of imagination in entrepreneurship and risen constructs align with the proposed conception. Under the microscope of Heidegger’s theory, entrepreneur’s imagination co-operates ventures successfully by incorporating notions of webs of significance, authenticity, spontaneity, heroes and moods, which guide opportunity identification and exploration in markets. The article has offered new insights to the knowledge of entrepreneur's imagination. From a pragmatic viewpoint, inferential leaps are possible because entrepreneurs practice against a background of webs of significance they own - which they relationally, linguistically and pragmatically - share across institutional frames. Implications of the findings on management are discussed. Keywords: Entrepreneurship; Heidegger; Imagination; Instability; Unpredictability; Spontaneity

Analysis of Heat Transfer Phenomena inside Concrete Hollow Blocks

    Get PDF
During both hot and cold seasons, masonry walls play an important role in the thermal performance between the interior and the exterior of occupied spaces. It is thus essential to analyze the thermal behavior at the hollow block’s level in order to better understand the temperature and heat flux distribution in its structure and potentially limit as much as possible the heat transfer through the block. In this scope, this paper offers an experimental and numerical in-depth analysis of heat transfer phenomena inside a hollow block using a dedicated experimental setup including a well-insulated reference box and several thermocouples and fluxmeters distributed at the boundaries and inside the hollow block. The block was then numerically 3D modelled and simulated using COMSOL Multiphysics under the same conditions, properties, and dimensions as the experimentally tested block. The comparison between the numerical and experimental results provides very satisfactory results with relative difference of less than 4% for the computed thermal resistance

Challenges of the Use of Instructional Materials in Geography Classroom in Secondary School: Nepal

Geography is an optional subject in the secondary schools in Nepal. This paper is an attempt to examine the challenges of using instructional materials in the geography classroom in community secondary schools in Kathmandu district of Bagmati Province. Geography teachers were selected by purposive sampling offering geography as an optional subject in secondary school. The semi structured interview method was used for data collection. The interviews were recorded on an audio recorder and transcribed. After collecting data, analysis of the data was made through theinterpretations of the raw data by interpretative method. The results reveal that the challenges of using materials are non-availability of materials, laziness of the teachers, lack of skill and strategies, financial constraint, lack of appropriate materials in textbook, time constraint, lack of support from authority, lack of geography resource room etc. The remedies of the challenges of using materials are the organizing of training and workshopfor teachers on how to use instructional materials, provision of funds by the authorities and government, regular supervision, the improvisation of the local materials and the provision of the various instructional materials which are necessary for teaching etc

An Automated Process of Creating 3D City Model for Monitoring Urban Infrastructures

    Get PDF
This paper describes the process of designing models and tools for an automated way of creating 3D city model based on a raw point cloud. Also, making and forming 3D models of buildings. Models and tools for creating tools made in the model builder application within the ArcGIS Pro software. An unclassified point cloud obtained by the LiDAR system was used for the model input data. The point cloud, collected by the airborne laser scanning system (ALS), is classified into several classes: ground, high and low noise, and buildings. Based on the created DEMs, points classified as buildings and formed prints of buildings, realistic 3D city models were created. Created 3D models of cities can be used as a basis for monitoring the infrastructure of settlements and other analyzes that are important for further development and architecture of cities

Research on Structural Design of Coal Crusher House in Thermal Power Plant
