Particle Event Generator: A Simple-in-Use System PEGASUS version 1.0
PEGASUS is a parton-level Monte-Carlo event generator designed to calculate
cross sections for a wide range of hard QCD processes at high energy and
collisions, which incorporates the dynamics of transverse momentum
dependent (TMD) parton distributions in a proton. Being supplemented with
off-shell production amplitudes for a number of partonic subprocesses and
provided with necessary TMD gluon density functions, it produces weighted or
unweighted event records which can be saved as a plain data file or a file in a
commonly used Les Houches Event format. A distinctive feature of PEGASUS is an
intuitive and extremely user friendly interface, allowing one to easily
implement various kinematical cuts into the calculations. Results can be also
presented "on the fly" with built-in tool \textsc{pegasus plotter}. A short
theoretical basis is presented and detailed program description is given.Comment: 24 pages, 8 figure

Pegasus XL Development and L-1011 Pegasus Carrier Aircraft
The Pegasus air-launched space booster has established itself as America\u27s standard small launch vehicle. Since its first flight on April 5, 1990 Pegasus has delivered 13 payloads to orbit in the four launches conducted to-date. To improve capability and operational flexibility, the Pegasus XL development program was initiated in late 1991. The Pegasus XL vehicle has increased propellant, improved avionics, and a number of design enhancements. To increase the Pegasus launch system\u27s flexibility, a Lockheed L-1011 aircraft has been modified to serve as a carrier aircraft for the vehicle. In addition, the activation of two new Pegasus production facilities is underway at Vandenberg AFB, California and the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops, Virginia. The Pegasus XL vehicle, L-1011 carrier aircraft, and Vandenberg production facility will be operational in the fall of 1993. This paper describes the Pegasus XL vehicle design, capability, development program, and payload interfaces. The L-1011 carrier aircraft is described, including its selection process, release mechanism vehicle and payload support capabilities, and certification program. Pegasus production facilities are described

Starbursts versus Truncated Star Formation in Nearby Clusters of Galaxies
We present long-slit spectroscopy, B and R bandpass imaging, and 21 cm
observations of a sample of early-type galaxies in nearby clusters which are
known to be either in a star-forming phase or to have had star formation which
recently terminated. From the long-slit spectra, obtained with the Blanco 4-m
telescope, we find that emission lines in the star-forming cluster galaxies are
significantly more centrally concentrated than in a sample of field galaxies.
The broadband imaging reveals that two currently star-forming early-type
galaxies in the Pegasus I cluster have blue nuclei, again indicating that
recent star formation has been concentrated. In contrast, the two galaxies for
which star formation has already ended show no central color gradient. The
Pegasus I galaxy with the most evident signs of ongoing star formation
(NGC7648), exhibits signatures of a tidal encounter. Neutral hydrogen
observations of that galaxy with the Arecibo radiotelescope reveal the presence
of ~4 x 10^8 solar masses of HI. Arecibo observations of other current or
recent star-forming early-type galaxies in Pegasus I indicate smaller amounts
of gas in one of them, and only upper limits in others.Comment: to be published in Astronomical Journa
