    Emergency TeleOrthoPaedics m-health system for wireless communication links

    For the first time, a complete wireless and mobile emergency TeleOrthoPaedics system with field trials and expert opinion is presented. The system enables doctors in a remote area to obtain a second opinion from doctors in the hospital using secured wireless telecommunication networks. Doctors can exchange securely medical images and video as well as other important data, and thus perform remote consultations, fast and accurately using a user friendly interface, via a reliable and secure telemedicine system of low cost. The quality of the transmitted compressed (JPEG2000) images was measured using different metrics and doctors opinions. The results have shown that all metrics were within acceptable limits. The performance of the system was evaluated successfully under different wireless communication links based on real data

    Visual Cryptography with Chaotic Encryption for Biometric Templates

    Preserving the privacy of digital biometric data (e.g., fingerprint) stored in a central database has become of paramount importance. It demands high speed decryption/encryption process with restricted computational powers. This work explores the possibility of using visual cryptography with chaotic encryption suitable for imparting security to biometric data such as fingerprint images. By using visual cryptography, the original image is decomposed into two images (called shares or sheets) in such a way that the original image can be revealed only when both images are simultaneously available. The security of the stored image can be further enhanced by doing chaotic encryption to the decomposed images. Typically, a private biometric image is dithered into two host images; these images are then independently encrypted using chaotic systems and are then transmitted and stored in two different database servers such that the identity of the private data is not revealed to either server. During the authentication process, Sheets are overlaid (i.e. super imposed) in order to reconstruct the private image. This work proposes a method for ensuring higher level of security for the images using visual cryptography with chaotic encryption. In the first phase of the project, the use of visual cryptography is explored to preserve the privacy of biometric data. This work is being done using Matlab 200

    We review the concept of the number wall as an alternative to the traditional linear complexity profile (LCP), and sketch the relationship to other topics such as linear feedback shift-register (LFSR) and context-free Lindenmayer (D0L) sequences. A remarkable ternary analogue of the Thue-Morse sequence is introduced having deficiency 2 modulo 3, and this property verified via the re-interpretation of the number wall as an aperiodic plane tiling

    Abstract-Security has become an inseparable issue as information technology is ruling the world now. Cryptography is the study of mathematical techniques related aspects of Information Security such as confidentiality, data security, entity authentication and data origin authentication, but it is not the only means of providing information security, rather one of the techniques. Visual cryptography is a new technique which provides information security which uses simple algorithm unlike the complex, computationally intensive algorithms used in other techniques like traditional cryptography. This technique allows Visual information (pictures, text, etc) to be encrypted in such a way that their decryption can be performed by the human visual system, without any complex cryptographic algorithms. This technique encrypts a secret image into shares such that stacking a sufficient number of shares reveals the secret image. Shares are usually presented in transparencies. In this paper we provide an overview of the emerging Visual Cryptography (VC) and related security research work done in this area
