    Quality regulated by the law. Evaluation at school viewed in the light of the ongoing changes in the educational supervision The article discusses problems connected with the implementation of qualitative changes imposed on schools by legal regulations. The internal evaluation has been discussed in the light of the changes in the educational supervision which have been taking place over the recent years. The analyses conducted in this article prove that legal regulations exert a powerful influence on qualitative actions undertaken by schools. The schools, however, do not act solely following the changes in legal regulations. Moreover, those constant changes result in teachersÔÇÖ disbelief in the permanence of the implemented solutions. Introducing the changes in educational supervision and assisting the schools in their realization of the tasks resulting from the currently binding directive by the Ministry of Education of 7 October 2007 on Educational Supervision it seems a good idea to draw from the experiences that the schools have in the field of assessing the quality of their work and to show the continuity of the actions promoting quality introduced to schools with legal regulations since 1999. The article has been inspired by the report written by Danuta Elsner and Krzysztof Bednarek entitled ÔÇťTwo Years of Internal Evaluation ÔÇô opinions of the educational environmentsÔÇŁ presented at the conference ÔÇťQuality of education or/and quality of evaluation.     Tobacco smoking in male and female population, Poland 1974ÔÇô2004On the basis of nation-wide randomized surveys, this paper analyzes patterns and trends of smoking prevalence in Polish adult (20+) population. In 1974, 62% of adult men and 19% of women smoked daily. In 1982, smoking rates reached the highest level ever observed in Poland (among Poles aged 20ÔÇô39, 70-80% of men and┬á 0-50% of women smoked daily). Percent of former smokers was low (15% for men, 6% for women). There was also big gender difference in prevalence of never smoking (15% in men, 70% in women). In the past two decades, substantial decline in smoking prevalence is observed. In men, decline in smoking rates (43% of daily smokers in 2000ÔÇô2004), contributed to decrease in lung cancer mortality. In women, smoking rates have not changed since the mid-1980s and did not led to decrease in lung cancer mortality, however, there are three different age-specific time trends in smoking prevalence in female population

Aby zbudowa─ç otwart─ů, demokratyczn─ů i wspieraj─ůc─ů rozw├│j ewaluacj─Ö, musimy najpierw odpowiedzie─ç na wa┼╝ne pytania zwi─ůzane z jej przysz┼éo┼Ťci─ů.The end of the project, which was aiming at using the evaluation in the inspection system for quality improvement of schools, other educational institutions and in the development of the whole educational system, provokes to ask questions about future of this idea. Education today is perceived as a one of the most important condition of the success in contemporary societies. Evaluation, which popularity is systematically growing, might serve as an effective tool for improvement. However, we should be aware that evaluation in education is a specific form of it, demanding different approach. In order to build open, democratic and supportive for development evaluation we need to answer important questions concerning its future developments
