The upper floor of the Palace of Peter I in the Alcázar of Seville
palacio sufrió en época de los Reyes CatólicosThis article discusses a singular aspect of the Palace of
Peter I in the Alcázar of Seville, namely the existence of
an upper floor with formal spaces, something not current
in analogous Al-Andalus buildings. The form and extent
of this floor is analyzed on the basis of archaeological
and documentary findings, and a hypothetical reconstruction
of this part of the Palace is proposed as well as
a study of its original function. Finally, the article considers
the modifications undergone in this upstairs area
of the palace during the reign of the Catholic MonarchsEste trabajo se ha realizado en el marco del proyecto de investigación “La arquitectura residencial de al-Andalus: análisis tipológico, contexto urbano y sociológico.
