DYNAMICS OF MORPHOMETRIC CHANGES OF COMMON BILE DUCT IN HUMAN FETUSES AND NEWBORNS

    Get PDF
A dynamics of changes of length and diameter of different parts of common bile duct has been traced on 65 corpses of human fetuses and newborns by means of macro- and microscopic preparation and morphometry methods. It has been established that the growth of common bile duct has asynchronous character with alternation of the periods of acceleration (5-7 and 9-10 months) and delay (8 months) during the fetal period of human ontogenesis. The features of the growth of common bile duct are caused by different character of its parts formation. The original method of determining the evaluation criteria of development of common bile duct in fetuses and newborns is based on the obtained data and can be used for an early prenatal diagnosis of malformations and congenital diseases of extrahepatic bile ducts

Chapter 11 from :Contesting and Constructing International Perspectives in Global Education edited by R.Reynolds, D.Bradbery, J.Brown, K.Carroll, D.Donnelly, K.Ferguson-Patrick and S.Maqueen published by Sense Publishers, Jan 2015.In this chapter we discuss, critically analyse, and report on a practice that is prevalent in global citizenship education: that of local and global service learning. Using Postcolonial Theory and Critical Pedagogy, we examine these practices, focusing on and contesting traditional conceptions of 'service' by questioning, 'who is providing a service to whom? Who benefits? And how can it be reconceptualised to enable all in the relationship to enact their entitlement as active global citizens? Our findings indicate that a critical understanding of both identity, and the socio-political and historical contexts are needed to engage as ‘active’ global citizens

At the nexus of critical interculturalism and plurilingualism: theoretical considerations for language education

Across Europe education systems are experiencing increased numbers of migrants, immigrants and refugees in their classrooms. There is increasing emphasis on the idea interculturalism, yet there is little evidence that this will hold any more success than multiculturalism in terms of social cohesion. The aim of this theoretical paper is to explore the idea of interculturalism from the perspectives of two alternative onto-epistemological traditions, object-based and relational, each of which construct cultural and linguistic diversity in a different way. An object-based logic has its roots in colonialism and constructs cultural and linguistic diversity in a way that is binary, hierarchical and ultimately Othering of difference. A relational logic has its roots in Southern, Diasporic and Indigenous communities and constructs cultural and linguistic diversity in a way that dialogically engages with difference. We propose a pluriversal, plurilingual approach to critical interculturality as a way forward for decolonising classroom relations and we consider the implications of this for language education. Peer Reviewe

Effects of genotype, explant type and nutrient medium components on canola (Brassica napus L.) shoot in vitro organogenesis

The objective of the study was to develop an efficient method for shoot regeneration of canola (Brassica napus L.) and to compare the regeneration capacity of different explants on MS medium withseveral combinations of plant growth regulators. The experiments showed that the morphogenetical potential of canola depends on genotype, primary explant, hormonal structure and concentration ofnutrient medium. Cotyledons possessed higher regeneration ability in comparison to hypocotyls and roots. The best regeneration capability was exhibited by the cultivar 'Quantum'. Its frequency withcotyledonary explants reached 68.8% on all used media. Addition of 3 mg/l ABA in nutrient medium considerably increased the regeneration frequency. The highest shoot regeneration (100%), however, took place when cotyledonary explants were cultivated on medium, containing 1.0 mg/l NAA, 8.0 mg/l BAP and 3.0 mg/l ABA. Precultivation of explants on callus induction medium did not affect the shoot regeneration frequency. Vitrification of regenerants was promoted by increasing the auxin NAA or cytokinin BAP, and ABA in the nutrient medium

Vestibular System: Anatomy, Physiology, and Clinical Evaluation

Аbstract Studies on vestibular system have brought new experimental studies, clinical examinations, and the development of effective treatment for a number of diseases of this system. In particular, vestibular paroxysmal positional disorders of peripheral and central origin have been studied. The main criteria for differential diagnosis of these disorders have been determined. Vestibular dysfunction in canalolithiasis and cupololithiasis has been investigated clinically and histologically. Effective therapeutic and prophylactic positional maneuvers of three types have been introduced into clinical practice. They were developed taking into account the anatomical and physiological features of the vestibular system. Currently only 20% of vestibular reactions, in particular, using electronystagmography test (ENG), are estimated in the horizontal plane. Videonystagmography (VNG) gives the possibility of video recording of nystagmus in the directions of semicircular channels (vertical, diagonal, horizontal). The vestibular evoked myogenic potential test (VEMP) is being widely used in clinical practice. Magnetic coils and scanning laser ophthalmoscopes are gaining increasing significance in examining patients. A brief information on vestibular disorders after the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident is also given
