    Effects of nutritional profile system and front labeling in food selection during purchases: a systematic review

    Nutritional profiling systems (NPS) are mainly used in front-end labeling policies in order to make the purchase and consumption choice conscious and healthy. Objetive. This study systematically reviewed evidence from interventions on the effect of NPS in the front-of- package on food purchases. Materials and methods. A bibliographic search was carried out in electronic sources from Medline, Elsevier, Scielo and Lilacs, of experimental studies and intervention between 2012 and 2022. A total of 14 articles were included in the review. They were analyzed according to the intervention modality used: 4 studies analyzed the effect of NPS in a real purchase situation and 10 evaluated purchase perception/intention. Results. According to the modality of intervention, the 6 studies that analyzed the NPS-warning system, all recorded healthier purchases compared to the control groups. While for the NPS-NutriScore, Health Star Rating and Multiple Traffic Lights were effective in the decision to purchase healthier foods, in 5 of 7 studies for the first NPS, in 4 of 7 for the second and in 4 of 8 for the third, compared with control groups. Conclusions. Findings of this study suggest that NPSs may be effective for healthy purchase choices, even so it is necessary to strengthen the system and policies with nutritional food education campaigns. Los sistemas de perfilado nutricional (SPN) son utilizados principalmente en pol铆ticas de etiquetado frontal con la finalidad de que la elecci贸n de compra y consumo sea consciente y saludable. Objetivo. Este estudio revis贸 sistem谩ticamente la evidencia de las intervenciones sobre el efecto de SPN en el frente del paquete en las compras de alimentos. Materiales y m茅todos. Se realiz贸 una b煤squeda bibliogr谩fica en fuentes electr贸nicas de Medline, Elsevier, Scielo y Lilacs, de estudios experimentales e intervenciones entre 2012 y 2022. Se incluyeron un total de 14 art铆culos en la revisi贸n. Fueron analizados seg煤n la modalidad de intervenci贸n utilizada: 4 estudios analizaron el efecto de los SPN en una situaci贸n de compra real y 10 evaluaron percepci贸n/intenci贸n de compra. Resultados. Seg煤n la modalidad de intervenci贸n, los 6 estudios que analizaron el SPN-sistema de advertencia, todos registraron compras m谩s saludables en comparaci贸n con grupo controles. Mientras que para los SPN-NutriScore, Estrellas de Salud y Sem谩foro Tricolor M煤ltiple fueron efectivas en la decisi贸n de compra de alimentos m谩s saludables, en 5 de 7 estudios para el primer SPN, en 4 de 7 para el segundo y en 4 de 8 para el tercero, comparados con grupo controles.     How to manage symptoms in pediatric cancer patients enrolled in clinical trials? A review of principal patient-reported outcome screening tools

    Background:聽In adult oncology, the practice of tracking symptoms and toxicities using patient-reported outcomes (PROs) has increased and correlates with increased survival. In contrast, symptom monitoring using PROs is not common in pediatric oncology. Only in the last couple of years attention has also been paid to the patient鈥檚 perception in pediatrics and listening to the voice of children and to making them participate in the treatment. Methods:聽A comprehensive literature search was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed and PsycINFO to identify relevant articles published through December 2022. Results:聽From 58 non-duplicate articles, 33 met our eligibility criteria. Of these, 17 were used in clinical trials. Conclusions:聽The dissemination and use of these tools will therefore have surprising repercussions on the control of pain and physical symptoms of small patients as well as on physical and psychological aspects. The administration and use of the PROs ensures optimal use of the drugs currently present in clinical trials by researcher and nurse and aims at a safer and more controlled approval of new drugs

    Desde el Proyecto EL IMPACTO DE LAS TECNOLOG脥AS DIGITALES EN EL V脥NCULO ENTRE PADRES E HIJOS ADOLESCENTES, DE LA PLATA Y GRAN LA PLATA, presentamos una l铆nea de investigaci贸n reciente y su reformulaci贸n de preguntas e hip贸tesis, con resultados preliminares, resituados en contexto de pandemia. Con el prop贸sito de poner en di谩logo, problematizar y compartir el desarrollo de nuestro quehacer como investigadores en una coyuntura tan compleja como novedosa que estamos atravesando, abrimos nuevos interrogantes a la vez que dise帽amos estrategias en situaci贸n. Compartimos las reformulaciones de instrumento y muestra en un marco de flexibilidad metodol贸gica. Y nos referimos al efecto y modo de virtualizaci贸n de lo cotidiano en familias con hijos adolescentes en relaci贸n a tres ejes: usos y novedades de la tecnolog铆a digital en pandemia, en adolescentes y adultos; establecimiento de acuerdos y ordenamientos intergeneracionales; efectos y simbolizaciones posibles de lo que se presenta: espacio-tiempo y cuerpo.This paper aims to present a recent line of research and its reformulation of questions and hypotheses, on the impact that new information and communication technologies (ICT) and digital environments have on the relationship between parents and adolescent children, in families of La Plata and Gran La Plata. (2020-2022), traversed by the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The use of technology, within the framework of the sanitary measures of isolation and social distancing, slowly acquired a character of imposition in the way of bonding with the other, questioning its use by choice. Faced with the current health crisis and its effects on daily life, it was necessary to make place for new explorations from a first survey.     Experimental validation of Orcaflex-based numerical models for the PEWEC device

    To design a Wave Energy Converter mooring system that ensures maintainability, resistance, and low costs, without affecting productivity, it is necessary to foster reliable numerical models. In the present paper, the validation of Orcaflex & COPY; simulations against the experiment results of the Pendulum Wave Energy Converter (PEWEC) 1:25 scale model, conducted at the University of Naples Federico II, is presented. The experiments consist of free-decay and static pull-out tests to assess the inertial properties of the model and mooring system; tests in operative and extreme regular and irregular waves to fully characterize the mooring system and the device dynamics. The same wave records measured in the towing tank have been used in numerical simulations. PEWEC motion results from numerical simulations and experiments are given in terms of Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs) for regular waves, as statistical values in tabular form, and in Taylor's diagrams for irregular waves. The most probable fairleads tensions for the load dimensioning have been obtained from the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution of experimental and numerical data. The obtained differences show that the numerical model accurately predicts the experimental data and correctly estimates the dimensioning load of the mooring lines

    Cardiotoxicity in children with cancer treated with anthracyclines: A position statement on dexrazoxane

    Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of non-malignant morbidity and mortality in childhood cancer survivors (CCSs). Anthracyclines are included in many treatment regimens for paediatric cancer, but unfortunately, these compounds are cardiotoxic. One in 10 CCSs who has received an anthracycline will develop a symptomatic cardiac event over time. Given the crucial need to mitigate anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity (ARC), the authors critically examined published data to identify effective cardioprotective strategies. Based on their expert analysis of contemporary literature data, it was concluded that consideration should be given for routine use of dexrazoxane in children with cancer who are at risk of ARC

    Simplified operational guidance for second generation intact stability criteria

    The SGISC have been developed to account for dangerous dynamic phenomena in waves. Five failure modes are defined, and a multi-layered structure, consisting of vulnerability criteria and Direct Stability Assessment, is adopted to check the ship vulnerability against each phenomenon. If the ship does not comply with one or more criteria, Operational Measures can be provided to reduce the likelihood of stability failures. The present paper provides an overview of Operational Measures and focuses on the application of the Simplified Operational Guidance (OG) for four different ships, each vulnerable to at least one of the failure modes. OG are derived according to IMO Interim Guidelines, by limiting ships鈥 operation in terms of sailing conditions. The original contribution of this work is the development and application of simple procedures to account for the effect of heading variations, leading to less conservative results in the evaluation of sailing conditions to be avoided. Results are presented in tabular form, reporting the critical speed for which the ship is vulnerable in defined headings, and in polar diagrams, identifying safe sailing conditions for given sea states

    International audienceThis paper's focus is on the aerodynamic and aerothermal loads that a reusable launch vehicle (RLV) during descent. The analysis is performed on a working design of the THEMIS demonstrator developed at Ariane Group SAS under an ESA contract. The paper describes the effects of parameters of the configuration of the nozzles. Impacts of these changes in shape on the aerothermal loads and the aerodynamic behaviour of the vehicle are addressed through the analysis of global aerodynamic coefficients and the static stability of the vehicles. Furthermore, the phenomena occurring in the flow field and its impacts on the heat flux distribution are investigated

    Blinatumomab in Children and Adolescents with Relapsed/Refractory B Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Real-Life Multicenter Retrospective Study in Seven AIEOP (Associazione Italiana di Ematologia e Oncologia Pediatrica) Centers

    Five-year event-free survival in pediatric B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) currently exceeds 80–85%. However, 15–20% of patients still experience a relapsed/refractory disease. From 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2020, thirty-nine patients, 0–21 years old with r/r BCP-ALL were treated with blinatumomab with the aim of inducing remission (n = 13) or reducing MRD levels (n = 26) in the frame of different multiagent chemotherapy schedules, in seven AIEOP centers. Patients were treated in compassionate and/or off-label settings and were not enrolled in any controlled clinical trials. Treatment was well tolerated; 22 (56.4%) patients reported adverse events (AE) on a total of 46 events registered, of which 27 (58.7%) were ≤2 grade according to CTCAE. Neurological AEs were 18 (39.1%); only two patients required transient blinatumomab discontinuation. Complete remission (CR) rate was 46% for the 13 patients treated with ≥5% blasts and 81% PCR/FC MRD negativity in the 26 patients with blasts < 5%. Median relapse-free survival was 33.4 months (95% CI; 7.5–59.3); median overall survival was not reached over a mean follow-up of 16 months. In our study, as in other real-life experiences, blinatumomab proved to be effective and well-tolerated, able to induce a high rate of CR and MRD negativity
