Women-Oddities – a study of selected Maria Komornicka’s / Piotr Włast’s heroines

The article is an overview of the female characters appearing throughout the pages of the works of Maria Komornicka, later known as Piotr Odmieniec Włast. Study shows how, over the years, individual psychological and philosophical features of the characters developed in parallel with the author’s ones. The blessed-cursed opposition becomes a key to finding subsequent presentations of the subject, which has its roots in the biography of Komornicka/Włast, what I have tried to explicitly point out in the presented discussion

Ecological aspects related to the topic of green roofs in architecture

Zielone dachy, zwane również ogrodami na dachu, tworzone były już w czasach starożytnych. Obecnie tego typu realizacje są powszechne w krajach europejskich, w rozwiązaniach systemowych. Mimo niedostosowanego ustawodawstwa, coraz częściej pojawiają się również w Polsce. Ogrody na dachu spełniają liczne funkcje ekologiczne, przyczyniając się do zachowania bioróżnorodności w mieście, izolując budynki od hałasu i temperatury. Korzystnie wpływają również na klimat w środowisku zurbanizowanym oraz miejską gospodarkę opadami poprzez zdolności retencyjne. Można je uznać za ważny element zrównoważonego środowiska mieszkaniowego.Konieczny jest monitoring, zwłaszcza w polskich warunkach, zagadnienia zielonych dachów, zarówno jeśli chodzi o aspekty techniczne – nowych, obecnych na świecie, rozwiązań technologicznych, a także biologicznych – śledzenie roślinności na istniejących dachach i ocena, które gatunki sprawdzają się w tych warunkach najlepiej. Warto zwrócić uwagę na Szwajcarię i Bazyleę, która jest prekursorem pod tym względem i może służyć jako wzór do naśladowania oraz na fakt, że korzystny wpływ zielonych dachów na środowisko miejskie widoczny jest dopiero przy dużej skali inwestycji.Zielone dachy wciąż są tematem nowym, konieczna zatem jest ich popularyzacja i uświadamianie społeczeństwa na temat korzyści wynikających z ich zakładania.Green roofs, also known as rooftop gardens, have already been created in ancient times. Currently, this type of projects are common in European countries, as system solutions. Although the unadjusted legislation, they are increasingly popular in Poland. Roof gardens fulfill a lot of ecological functions, contributing to the conservation of biodiversity in the city, isolating buildings from noise and temperature. Preferably also affect the climate in the urban environment and urban economy rainfall through retention capacity. Can be regarded as an important element of a sustainable housing environment.Monitoring is necessary, especially in the Polish conditions, the issue of green roofs, both in terms of technical aspects - new, existing in the world, technologies, and biological - to keep vegetation on existing roofs and assess which species work well in these conditions best. It is worth paying attention to Switzerland and Basel, which is a precursor in this regard and can serve as a model and the fact that the beneficial effects of green roofs on urban environment is visible only at large-scale investments.Green roofs are still a new topic, so it is necessary to popularize itand raising public awareness on the benefits of their establishment
