Rakennuspiirustuksista valokuvamaiseen mainoskuvaan : Visuaaliset ratkaisut Blender 3D-mallinnusohjelman avulla toteutetussa pientalon visualisoinnissa
Toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö käsittelee arkkitehtuurivisualisoinnin toteuttamista pientalosta Blender 3D-mallinnusohjelman avulla. Työ keskittyy 3D-mallinnuksen avulla toteutetun teoksen, visualisointikuvan ja siihen liittyvän viitekehyksen tarkasteluun. Työssä esitellään 3D arkkitehtuurivisualisoinnin keinoja ja tarkastellaan visuaalisia ratkaisuja visualisointikuvissa. Työssä kuvataan lisäksi tapauskohtainen visualisointikuvan toteutusprosessi työvaiheittain. Blender 3D-mallinnusohjelma on työssä keskeisessä roolissa.
This practice-based thesis research studies the production of an architectural visualization of a one-family-house with Blender 3D modelling software. The research focuses on architectural visualization images, including my own artwork, and on the context around them. I introduce typical methods of 3D architectural visualization and deal with visual solutions seen in visualization images. I also describe the implementation process of my own artwork. Blender 3D modelling software plays an essential role in the work.
I conduct a critical analysis of my artwork and work process, in order to find solutions for improving them. I aim to develop my knowledge and mastery of architectural visualization. The thesis research finds answers to the questions of how I can improve the functionality, quality and creativity of my visualization, and how I can make the work process more effective and professional.
The research allows me to conclude that the visualization created is visually fairly functional and of a reasonably good quality despite the fact that the visualization is not very creative. I need more experience and knowledge of the tools of the trade to increase the creativity in my visualizations. There is a lot to improve in the work process implemented, especially in efficiency and the use of tools. Both the visualization and the work process can be improved especially by a more careful planning and organizing of the content. Blender is a suitable tool for creating high quality creative 3D architectural visualizations. However, judging by my first experience, it was relatively laborious to use
An immigrant family in a child health centre : a figurative folder of a child's growth and healthy lifestyle
Tutkimuksen
kautta voisi myös selvittää tarkemmin, mistä aiheista maahanmuuttajat tarvitsisivat lisää vastaavanlaista
materiaalia. The purpose of this Bachelor’s Thesis was to produce a figurative folder that demonstrates
healthy lifestyle with photographs, Clip- Art pictures and Finnish text. The aim of the figurative
folder is to promote immigrant children’s and their families’ well being and state of health by
giving information of the normal growth of children, healthy lifestyle and functions in a child
health centre. The aim of the figurative folder is also to promote equality in the use of health
services.
The figurative folder is for all immigrant groups who find it useful. It can also be used at the appointment
of a public health nurse. The figurative folder was produced in cooperation with Kuokkala
and Huhtasuo Child Health Centres. The function of a child health centre, the growth of a
child, healthy nutrition, daily routines, hygiene, sleep, outdoor activities, dressing and playing
became the subjects of the figurative folder. The figurative folder was made by Power-Point
programme and two folders were produced.
On the basis of theory and research knowledge, it could be stated that figurative material supports
immigrant perceptions of functions in a child health centre, the growth of a child and
healthy lifestyle. The child health centres are planning to place the figurative folders to be available
for everyone.
The figurative folder could be further developed by extending it to different issues, for example,
“when a child gets sick” or by completing it and testing its functionality and benefits. One of the
issues to be researched would be the subjects that immigrants need to know more about

A synchronized, large-scale field experiment using Arabidopsis thaliana reveals the significance of the UV-B photoreceptor UVR8 under natural conditions
This study determines the functional role of the plant ultraviolet-B radiation (UV-B) photoreceptor, UV RESISTANCE LOCUS 8 (UVR8) under natural conditions using a large-scale 'synchronized-genetic-perturbation-field-experiment'. Laboratory experiments have demonstrated a role for UVR8 in UV-B responses but do not reflect the complexity of outdoor conditions where 'genotype × environment' interactions can mask laboratory-observed responses. Arabidopsis thaliana knockout mutant, uvr8-7, and the corresponding Wassilewskija wild type, were sown outdoors on the same date at 21 locations across Europe, ranging from 39°N to 67°N latitude. Growth and climatic data were monitored until bolting. At the onset of bolting, rosette size, dry weight, and phenolics and glucosinolates were quantified. The uvr8-7 mutant developed a larger rosette and contained less kaempferol glycosides, quercetin glycosides and hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives than the wild type across all locations, demonstrating a role for UVR8 under field conditions. UV effects on rosette size and kaempferol glycoside content were UVR8 dependent, but independent of latitude. In contrast, differences between wild type and uvr8-7 in total quercetin glycosides, and the quercetin-to-kaempferol ratio decreased with increasing latitude, that is, a more variable UV response. Thus, the large-scale synchronized approach applied demonstrates a location-dependent functional role of UVR8 under natural conditions
