Following up on the previous study by Shao et al. (2015), we present new mineralogical, geochemical, and Sr-Nd isotope data to investigate the origin of the hydrothermal sediments and characterize the hydrothermal system. The substrate at the Iheya North Knoll is dominated by pumiceous sediment and other volcanoclastic materials interbedded with hemipelagic (terrigenous and biogenous) sediments. Impermeable layers separate the hydrothermal sediments into distinct units with depth that are characterized by various assemblages of alteration materials, including polymetallic sulfides, sulfates, chlorite- and kaolinite-rich sediments. The rare earth elements (REEs) and Nd isotope data suggest that the chlorite-rich and kaolinite-rich layers primarily resulted from the alteration of pumiceous materials in different chemical and physical conditions. Kaolinite-rich sediment likely reflects low pH and low Mg concentration fluids, while chlorite-rich sediment formed from fluids with high pH and increased Mg contents, likely at higher temperatures. The Sr isotopic compositions of subsurface anhydrite reflect high seawater/hydrothermal fluid ratios in the mid-OT hydrothermal area. Compared with chlorite-rich sediments from other sediment-covered or felsic-hosted hydrothermal systems, the chlorite-rich sediments in the mid-OT are characterized by lower concentrations of Al and Fe but much higher Y, Zr, Hf, Th and REEs, indicative of the distinct nature of the precursor rocks in this region. This work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant Nos. 41376049 and 41225020), National Programme on Global Change and Air-Sea Interaction (GASI-GEOGE-03), AoShan Talents Program Supported by Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (No. 2015ASTP-OS11), Program of Shanghai Subject Chief Scientist (No. 14XD1403600), and Continental Shelf Drilling Program (No. GZH201100202)

In this paper, the results of the chemical composition investigations of light- petroleum extract of crude herbal drug Maydis stigma by means of GC-MS. were presented. Analysis of saponifiables resulted in identification of 15 fatty acids, with octadecanoic acid as the most prominent one (17,3 %). Eicosanoic and octadecadienoic acids (16,0 and 10,7 %, respectively) were also present in significant concentration Analysis of non-saponifiables resulted in identification of 20 compounds. Non-saponifiable matter of Maydis stigma light-petroleum extract is characterized by high percentage of n-alkanes (53,0 %) and phytosterols (37,4 %), while the rest is composed mainly of triterpenes (a-amyrine and friedelin), as well as the carotenoids. The principal constituents of non-saponifiable matter fraction were identified as p-sitosterol (23 %) and alkane C29H60 (15,1 %).U ovom radu, prikazani su rezultati ispitivanja hemijskog sastava petroletarskog ekstrakta droge Maydis stigma primenom GC-MS. Nesaponifikovane materije petroletarskog ekstrakta droge Maydis stigma karakteriše visok sadržaj n-alkana (53,0 %) i fitosterola (37,4 %), dok ostatak čine triterpeni (a-amirin i fridelin) i karotenoidi. Glavni sastojak frakcije fitosterola je p-sitosterol (23 %), dok je među ugljovodonicima dominantan alkan C29H60 (15,1 %)

Heat Shock Protein 70 Protects the Heart from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury through Inhibition of p38 MAPK Signaling.

BackgroundHeat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) has been shown to exert cardioprotection. Intracellular calcium ([Ca2+]i) overload induced by p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) activation contributes to cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, whether Hsp70 interacts with p38 MAPK signaling is unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the regulation of p38 MAPK by Hsp70 in I/R-induced cardiac injury.MethodsNeonatal rat cardiomyocytes were subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation for 6 h followed by 2 h reoxygenation (OGD/R), and rats underwent left anterior artery ligation for 30 min followed by 30 min of reperfusion. The p38 MAPK inhibitor (SB203580), Hsp70 inhibitor (Quercetin), and Hsp70 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) were used prior to OGD/R or I/R. Cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI), [Ca2+]i levels, cell apoptosis, myocardial infarct size, mRNA level of IL-1β and IL-6, and protein expression of Hsp70, phosphorylated p38 MAPK (p-p38 MAPK), sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase2 (SERCA2), phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription3 (p-STAT3), and cleaved caspase3 were assessed.ResultsPretreatment with a p38 MAPK inhibitor, SB203580, significantly attenuated OGD/R-induced cell injury or I/R-induced myocardial injury, as evidenced by improved cell viability and lower LDH release, resulted in lower serum cTnI and myocardial infarct size, alleviation of [Ca2+]i overload and cell apoptosis, inhibition of IL-1β and IL-6, and modulation of protein expressions of p-p38 MAPK, SERCA2, p-STAT3, and cleaved-caspase3. Knockdown of Hsp70 by shRNA exacerbated OGD/R-induced cell injury, which was effectively abolished by SB203580. Moreover, inhibition of Hsp70 by quercetin enhanced I/R-induced myocardial injury, while SB203580 pretreatment reversed the harmful effects caused by quercetin.ConclusionsInhibition of Hsp70 aggravates [Ca2+]i overload, inflammation, and apoptosis through regulating p38 MAPK signaling during cardiac I/R injury, which may help provide novel insight into cardioprotective strategies

Objective: To explore the expression levels and clinical value of FKBP10 in lung adenocarcinoma brain metastases. Design: A retrospective single-institution cohort study. Patients: The perioperative records of 71 patients with lung adenocarcinoma brain metastases who underwent surgical resection at the authors’ institution between November 2012 and June 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Methods: The authors evaluated FKBP10 expression levels using immunohistochemistry in tissue arrays of these patients. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were constructed, and a Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to identify independent prognostic biomarkers. A public database was used to detect FKBP10 expression and its clinical value in primary lung adenocarcinoma. Results: The authors found that the FKBP10 protein was selectively expressed in lung adenocarcinoma brain metastases. Survival analysis showed that FKBP10 expression (p = 0.02, HR = 2.472, 95% CI [1.156, 5.289]), target therapy (p < 0.01, HR = 0.186, 95% CI [0.073, 0.477]), and radiotherapy (p = 0.006, HR = 0.330, 95% CI [0.149, 0.731]) were independent prognostic factors for survival in lung adenocarcinoma patients with brain metastases. The authors also detected FKBP10 expression in primary lung adenocarcinoma using a public database, found that FKBP10 is also selectively expressed in primary lung adenocarcinoma, and affects the overall survival and disease-free survival of patients. Limitations: The number of enrolled patients was relatively small and patients’ treatment options varied. Conclusions: A combination of surgical resection, adjuvant radiotherapy, and precise target therapy may benefit the survival of selected patients with lung adenocarcinoma brain metastases. FKBP10 is a novel biomarker for lung adenocarcinoma brain metastases, which is closely associated with survival time and may serve as a potential therapeutic target

Reflectance reconstruction for multispectral imaging by adaptive Wiener estimation

In multispectral imaging, Wiener estimation is widely adopted for the reconstruction of spectral reflectance. We propose an improved reflectance reconstruction method by adaptively selecting training samples for the autocorrelation matrix calculation in Wiener estimation, without a prior knowledge of the spectral information of the samples being imaged. The performance of the proposed adaptive Wiener estimation and the traditional method are compared in the cases of different channel numbers and noise levels. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the traditional method in terms of both spectral and colorimetric prediction errors when the imaging channel number is 7 or less. When the imaging system consists of 11 or more channels, the color accuracy of the proposed method is slightly better than or becomes close to that of the traditional method.Institute of Textiles and ClothingAuthor name used in this publication: Si-Jie ShaoAuthor name used in this publication: John H.
