Self-Motions of 3-RPS Manipulators

International audienceRecently a complete kinematic description of the 3-RPS parallel manipulator was obtained using algebraic constraint equations. It turned out that the workspace splits into two components describing two kinematically different operation modes. In this paper the algebraic description is used to give a complete analysis of all possible self-motions of this manipulator in both operation modes. Furthermore it is shown that a transition from one operation mode into the other in a self-motion is possible

Die Entwicklung des Fremdenverkehrs am niederösterreichischen Alpenostrand unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Verschönerungsvereine

An Hand des Sektorenmodells des französischen Soziologen und Volkswirtschafters Jean Fourastié konnte einerseits die Migration aus den Kronländern nach Wien gezeigt und der Prozeß verdeutlicht werden, der die Stadt bis 1915 auf über 2 Mill. Einwohner hat anwachsen lassen. Damit war eine große Bevölkerungsballung mit Beschäftigten überwiegend im sekundären und tertiären Sektor vorhanden, welche die wesentliche Voraussetzung für eine touristische Nachfrage gebildet hat. Urlaubsziele müssen „industriefern und naturnah“ sein; dazu kommt, daß die Faktoren Natur und Landschaft sehr gewichtig sind. Somit verfügt das Umland im Südwesten von Wien über ein besonders attraktives Naturpotential. Diese idyllische Landschaft war für das städtische Bürgertum die „Urlaubslandschaft“ schlechthin. Für die begüterten Schichten war ein privates Landhaus erklärtes Ziel, wobei architektonische Vorbilder des alpinen Raumes mit Holzbalkonen, Salettln und Verzierungen in Laubsägetechnik gefordert waren. Sie waren es auch, die eine „präzise“ Vorstellung von der mit der Heimatscholle verwurzelten Landbevölkerung hatten. Durch den Besuch der Fremden, der Touristen des städtischen Bürgertums, wurde bei der einheimischen Bevölkerung ein nachhaltiger Einfluß auf die herkömmliche Ordnung ausgeübt. Dies führte so weit, daß sich nicht die Bewohner der Bergregionen vorstellen und bestimmen konnten, sondern die von außen Angekommenen haben durch ihre selektive Betrachtungsweise das bis heute nachwirkende Klischee des „Älplers“ gestaltet und formuliert. Die Touristen definierten selbst die Natur, in der sie sich in Alleen und Parkanlagen „ergehen“ konnten. Es waren schließlich die Verschönerungsvereine, die sich von innen heraus entwickelt hatten, um die Anregungen und Vorstellungen der Gäste zu erforschen und nach Möglichkeit umzusetzen. Andererseits haben auch die Gäste regionalspezifisches Kulturgut wie etwa Kleidung, Tänze und Lieder übernommen. Die Verschönerungsvereine können als Vorläufer heutiger Tourismusorganisationen in Teilbereichen angesprochen werden, ohne daß allerdings eine durchgehende Kontinuität immer belegbar ist. Der Verfasser hat bereits 1971 eine Definition des Fremdenverkehrs vorgestellt. Für ihn ist der „Fremdenverkehr [ ... ] der Inbegriff der Wechselbeziehungen und Wechselwirkungen zwischen Personen, die andernorts ihren Hauptwohnsitz sowie ihre Haupteinkommensquelle haben, und ihrer neuen Umgebung“. Damit werden frühzeitig die Aussagen volkskundlicher Autoren aus den Jahren 1988 und 1992 vorweggenommen. Durch die verkehrsmäßige Erschließung der Landschaft im Zuge des Ausbaues des Eisenbahnnetzes wurden früher nur umständlich und beschwerlich erreichbare Regionen an die Reichshaupt- und Residenzstadt Wien herangebracht. Dieser Vorgang wurde am Beispiel des Semmerings sowie des Kamptales aufgezeigt. Durch das Staatsgrundgesetz des Jahres 1867 war es erst möglich, Vereine zu gründen. Alpine Vereine sowie Verschönerungsvereine hatten bei der Entwicklung des Tourismus besonderes Gewicht. Es wurden die alpinen Vereine beleuchtet, welche mit ihren Wegen und Schutzhütten schon in den frühen Jahren die touristische Infrastruktur am Alpenostrand präsentiert hatten. Der „sanfte Tourismus“ wurde ebenfalls diskutiert. Die Verschönerungsvereine von Bad Fischau, Bad Vöslau, Baden und Perchtoldsdorf, alle am Alpenostrand gelegen, wurden ausführlich abgehandelt und dabei volkskundliche Themen besonders hervorgehoben. Der Verein von Bad Fischau ist der einzige, der nach der nationalsozialistischen Unterbrechung bereits 1946 die vereinsrechtliche Meldung bei der zuständigen Bezirkshauptmannschaft abgegeben hatte und bis in die Gegenwart aktiv ist. Die in den Statuten der Verschönerungsvereine festgeschriebenen Aufgaben können als Essenz zusammengefaßt werden mit: „Verschönerung des Ortes, Anlage von Wegen mit Pflanzungen sowie Parks und Einrichtungen für die Gäste“

Les valeurs céphalométriques de quatre groupes représentant une population d'adultes et d'enfants de trois villes européennes sont comparées aux normes habituellement citées dans la littérature. Les variations par rapport à ces normes sont très significatives. Les auteurs en tirent les conclusions suivantes : les normes décrites dans la littérature ne sont pas applicables à toutes les populations, la dispersion des valeurs étant trop importante ; les moyennes diffèrent entre les groupes européens, traduisant des variations ethniques et régionales ; l'utilisation de la téléradiographie dans l'établissement d'un diagnostic et d'un plan de traitement, doit se faire avec circonspection

Extending product lifetimes: a reuse network for ICT hardware

This paper examines how a network of small/medium-sized enterprises was developed to enable reuse and resource conservation in the information and communications technology sector by exchange of used equipment over a resource exchange internet platform. The network’s effectiveness and potential for expansion is also examined. The results demonstrate that it is possible and in many cases economically viable to increase the reuse stream of equipment and to extend the network’s activities to a European level. The expectation of doubling the amount of traded appliances within the network was greatly exceeded. The successful development of technical, legal and financial guidance led to its incorporation into an accredited industry guideline

Business to business end-of-life IT industrial networks

Business-to-business waste electrical and electronic equipment systems are not reported under current EuropeanUnion regulations. This paper examines the independent, unreported, industrial networks for the collection andtreatment of such waste in the UK, Austria, Germany, Romania and Spain. Methods used are semi-structuredinterviews and surveys of relevant literature. The results show that treatment options are highly driven by the endmarket for the resulting product. Reuse rarely occurs in Austria and Spain, but is common in the UK and prevalent inGermany. The flow of equipment through different recovery/disposal routes cannot be estimated. It is concluded that a solution needs to be developed to avoid negative sustainability impacts, but which does not place such a burden on the industry that it makes the practice unattractive

Kinematic Analysis of the 3-RPS Cube Parallel Manipulator

International audienceThe 3-RPS Cube parallel manipulator, a three-degree-of-freedom parallel manipulator initially proposed by Huang et al. in 1995, is analysed in this paper with an algebraic approach, namely Study kinematic mapping of the Euclidean group SE(3) and is described by a set of eight constraint equations. A primary decomposition is computed over the set of eight constraint equations and reveals that the manipulator has only one operation mode. Inside this operation mode, it turns out that the direct kinematics of the manipulator with arbitrary values of design parameters and joint variables, has sixteen solutions in the complex space. A geometric interpretation of the real solutions is given. The singularity conditions are obtained by deriving the determinant of the Jacobian matrix of the eight constraint equations. All the singular poses are mapped onto the joint space and are geometrically interpreted. By parametrizing the set of constraint equations under the singularity conditions, it is shown that the manipulator is in actuation singularity. The workspace of each point of the moving platform (with exception of the three vertices) is bounded by a Steiner surface. This type of motion has been studied by Darboux in 1897. Moreover, the 3-dof motion of the 3-RPS Cube parallel manipulator contains a special one-degree-of-freedom motion, called the Vertical Darboux Motion. In this motion, the moving platform can rotate and translate about and along the same axis simultaneously. The surface generated by a line in the moving platform turns out to be a right-conoid surface

Forward kinematics of the general triple-arm robot using a distance-based formulation

Distance-based formulations have successfully been used to obt ain closure polynomials for planar mechanisms without relying, in most cases, on variab le eliminations. The methods re- sulting from previous attempts to generalize these techniques t o spatial mechanisms exhibit some limitations such as the impossibility of incorporating orient ation constraints. For the first time, this paper presents a complete satisfactory generalization. As an e xample, it is applied to obtain a clo- sure polynomial for the the general triple-arm parallel robot (that is , the 3-RP S 3-DOF robot). This polynomial, not linked to any particular reference frame, is obtai ned without variable eliminations or tangent-half-angle substitutions
