Antibiotic prophylaxis habits in dental implant surgery among dentists in Spain. A cross-sectional survey

The use of antibiotics to prevent dental implant failures and postoperative infections remains a controversial issue. The objectives of this study were to assess the current antibiotic prescribing patterns and antibiotic prescribing frequency of dentists in Biscay (Spain) in conjunction with routine dental implant surgery among healthy patients and to determine whether any consensus has been reached by such practitioners and last published evidence was being followed. Observational cross-sectional study: electronic survey. This study was reported according to the STROBE guidelines. This anonymous questionnaire contained open-ended and close-ended questions. An email was sent 26 October 2017 to all the registered members of the Biscay dentists? College (n=989). The collected data were analyzed using STATA® 14 software, and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to assess the frequency of prescription for each antibiotic regimen. The survey was responded to by a total of 233 participants (response rate=23.56%). Overall, 210 participants finished the survey completely, and 23 surveys were answered partially. The questionnaire was responded to by 122 females (58.1%) and 88 males (41.9%). Of the participants, 88% (n=207) always routinely prescribed prophylactic antibiotics in conjunction with dental implant surgery (95% CI: 84.79-92.88%). Approximately 9% (n=22) prescribed antibiotics sometimes (95% CI: 5.68-13.19%), and only 4 dentists (1.72%) never prescribed antibiotics (95% CI: 0.04-3.38%). Overall, 179 of 233 respondents prescribed both pre- and postoperative antibiotics (78.85%, 95% CI: 72.96-83.97%), 13 prescribed antibiotics only preoperatively (5.73%, 95% CI: 3.08-9.59%), and 35 prescribed antibiotics exclusively after routine dental implant surgery (15.42%, 95% CI: 10.98-20.78%). Most of the dentists working in Biscay routinely prescribe prophylactic antibiotics in conjunction with dental implant surgery among healthy patients. A large range of prophylactic regimens are prescribed and the most recently published evidence is not being followed

Anexos trabajo de gradoLa compresión lectora es base de todo proceso académico dado que para aprender debemos comprender lo que leemos, observamos e interpretamos, luego de realizado un diagnóstico desde la experiencia en el aula, se logra determinar que los índices de comprensión lectora son bajos e inciden en gran parte en los resultados que obtienen los estudiantes, es por ello que se ahondara en los procesos de compresión lectora en estudiantes de grados 4to y 5to de primaria del colegio Gimnasio Monseñor Manuel María Camargo de la ciudad de Bogotá, buscando formar un sentido más sólido y fundamentado con lo que se lee, analiza y se comprende. La comprensión lectora es una herramienta que permite al estudiante una apropiación de conceptos, aspectos y determinantes específicos al momento de plasmar argumentos sólidos frente a diversas situaciones, es por ello que dentro de esta propuesta se incorpora como base investigativa lo planteado por Matthew Limpan referente a la filosofía para niños (FpN) puesto que desde ella se aporta a la creación de un pensamiento crítico, analítico y reflexivo fomentado bases sólidas que aportan al crecimiento académico y personal del estudiante, llevando así a la obtención de mejores resultados, para lograr lo anterior se crearon 3 actividades dentro de una secuencia didáctica, con la cual se llevó al estudiante a través del juego, la dinámicas, el aprendizaje significativo y las herramientas de la FpN por el camino de la compresión lectora, logrando generar en cada uno de los estudiantes participantes, dar herramientas que les permitirán analizar, comprender y argumentar en cada uno de los procesos por los que se camina en cada etapa estudiantil, siendo ello uno de los puntos trabajados y alcanzados con las actividades realizadas, dejando como conclusión que el unificar el juego, la teoría y el aprendizaje significativo atendiendo a cada uno de los procesos formativos de los estudiantes.Reading comprehension is the basis in every single academic process since when we learn, we need to understand what we read, observe or interpret, after we have developed a diagnose since the classroom experience, it is achieved to figure out that the reading comprehension rate are in a lower scale and that plays an important role in the exams’ outcomes students get, that is the reason why the present study is focused on students from 4th and 5th grades from primary level at Gimnasio Monseñor Manuel María Camargo school, located in Bogota; trying to get a more solid and supported sense of what it is read, analyzed and comprehended. The reading comprehension is a tool that allows students obtain specific concepts, aspects, and determinants at the moment of expressing and giving strong reasons according to several situations. Due to this, Matthew Limpan’s works related to children’s philosophy, in Spanish (FpN) is also included as the seedbed of research since the creation of a critic, analytical and reflexive thought takes place by creating strong roots which enrich the academic and personal student growth; taking to direct better academic records. To be able to accomplish that, three activities in a didactic sequence were created to lead students towards effective reading comprehension processes through games, dynamics, and meaningful learning as well as FpN tools. These processes were an accomplishment of a successful reading comprehension encouragement in every participant student, be able to give them tools to analyze, support and understand each one of the steps of every learning stage. As a conclusion to unify theory, games, and meaningful learning by fulfilling each student’s learning stage, integrates and completes their academic, social, and personal path by creating the basis of a global education from a holistic perspective of the human being

The effect of preoperative clindamycin in reducing early oral implant failure: a randomised placebo-controlled clinical trial

Objectives To assess the effect of preoperative oral clindamycin in reducing early implant failure in healthy adults undergoing conventional implant placement. Materials and methods We conducted a prospective, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in accordance with the ethical principles and Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials statement. We included healthy adults who underwent a single oral implant without previous infection of the surgical bed or the need for bone grafting. They were randomly treated with a single dose of oral clindamycin (600 mg) 1 h before surgery or a placebo. All surgical procedures were performed by one surgeon. A single trained observer evaluated all patients on postoperative days 1, 7, 14, 28, and 56. Early dental implant failure was defined as the loss or removal of an implant for any reason. We recorded the clinical, radiological, and surgical variables, adverse events, and postoperative complications. The study outcomes were statistically analysed to evaluate differences between the groups. Furthermore, we calculated the number required to treat or harm (NNT/NNH). Results Both the control group and clindamycin group had 31 patients each. Two implant failures occurred in the clindamycin group (NNH = 15, p = 0.246). Three patients had postoperative infections, namely two placebo-treated and one clindamycin-treated, which failed (relative risk: 0.5, CI: 0.05-5.23, absolute risk reduction = 0.03, confidence interval: - 0.07-0.13, NNT = 31, CI: 7.2-infinity, and p = 0.5). One clindamycin-treated patient experienced gastrointestinal disturbances and diarrhoea. Conclusions Preoperative clindamycin administration during oral implant surgery in healthy adults may not reduce implant failure or post-surgical-complications.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature. La eficacia del control posterior y selectivo durante el período 2014-2018 en el ejercicio del control fiscal realizado por la Contraloría General de la República previo la entrada en vigencia del acto legislativo 04 de 2019

One of the main methods that the state has for the fulfillment of its purposes is the use of public resources, with which the implementation of policies, plans, programs and projects is carried out, aimed at satisfying the basic needs of its fellow citizens, at its various levels and economic and social aspects. Thanks to this, the need arises to implement a fiscal control over the treasury and the Colombian Political Constitution in articles 119 and 267, gives that responsibility to the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Territorial Comptrollers, to carry out a subsequent control and selective to the activities carried out by the entities that are part of the state structure and individuals who administer or manage the money and assets of the Nation. The actions of the Comptroller General of the Republic are subject to its limits of competence, once the damage has been consummated and the actions to compensate the patrimonial damage and in compliance with the constitutional mandate to safeguard public resources and compensate the damage caused to the public patrimony as a result of a fraudulent or seriously culpable action by one of its agents, opening for the 2014-2018 period a total of 4,141 tax liability proceedings for an amount of $21.6 billion, therefore, aspects related to the effectiveness of the subsequent and selective control during the 2014-2018 period in the fiscal control exercise carried out by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic prior to the entry into force of legislative act 04 of 2019.Uno de los principales métodos que posee el estado para el cumplimiento de sus fines, es la utilización de recursos públicos, con los cuales, se realiza la implementación de políticas, planes, programas y proyectos, destinados a satisfacer las necesidades básicas de sus conciudadanos, en sus diversos niveles y aspectos económicos y sociales. Gracias a ello, surge la necesidad de implementar un control fiscal sobre el erario y la Constitución Política Colombiana en los artículos 119 y 267, le otorga esa responsabilidad a la Contraloría General de la República y las Contralorías Territoriales, para la realización un control posterior y selectivo a las actividades que efectúan a las entidades que hacen parte de la estructura del estado y a particulares que administren o manejen dineros y bienes de la Nación. Las actuaciones de la Contraloría General de Republica, se encuentran sujetas a sus límites de competencia, una vez el daño se ha consumado y a las acciones para resarcir el daño patrimonial y dando cumplimiento al mandato constitucional de salvaguardar los recursos públicos y resarcir el daño ocasionado al patrimonio público como consecuencia de una actuación dolosa o gravemente culposa de uno de sus agentes, apertura para el periodo 2014- 2018 un total de 4141 procesos de responsabilidad fiscal por una cuantía de$21,6 billones, por ello, se abordó aspectos relacionados con la eficacia del control posterior y selectivo durante el período 2014-2018 en el ejercicio del control fiscal realizado por la Contraloría General de la República previo la entrada en vigencia del acto legislativo 04 de 2019

La relación entre el gobierno corporativo, el desempeño empresarial y las decisiones de financiación en Colombia

La evidencia empírica en los mercados financieros sugiere que aquellas compañías que gestionan de manera adecuada sus grupos de interés y que fortalecen y divulgan sus políticas de gobierno corporativo logran mayor efectividad institucional. A partir de lo anterior, este artículo estudia la relación entre la calidad de las prácticas de gobierno corporativo, la valoración y las decisiones de financiación y desempeño financiero de empresas colombianas durante el período 2008-2018 desde una perspectiva mixta que vincula la teoría de la agencia y la dependencia de recursos. En el sentido metodológico, se examinaron firmas que cotizan en la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia y se emplearon dos índices de gobernanza que son propiedad de Bloomberg. La investigación utilizó modelos de regresión en un panel de datos no balanceado. Los resultados muestran que existe una relación positiva entre los índices de gobierno corporativo y el desempeño financiero de las firmas, pero negativa frente al endeudamiento total.Empirical evidence in financial markets suggests that those companies that adequately manage their interest groups, and that strengthen and disseminate their corporate governance policies achieve greater institutional effectiveness. THE ROLE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF FINANCIAL ACCESS IN COLOMBIA

Los desarrollos tecnológicos han afectado a la industria financiera en los últimos años, introduciendo nuevos modelos de negocio como fintech, blockchain e inteligencia artificial, aumentando así la gama de productos financieros con un alto potencial disruptivo. En este sentido, las tecnologías emergentes en el sector financiero juegan un papel decisivo en la expansión de la inclusión financiera al permitir que más colombianos accedan a servicios innovadores e impulsar el crecimiento económico. En ese sentido, el presente estudio documenta la incidencia entre la adopción de nuevas tecnologías en el marco de los mercados emergentes latinoamericanos y el proceso de inclusión financiera, resaltando aspectos como las tendencias, expectativas, atractivo para los inversionistas, entre los principales aspectos. Al respecto, se analizó́ literatura especializada a nivel internacional y nacional, se emplearon datos históricos del Banco Mundial y el análisis econométrico se desarrolló a través de modelos de regresión lineal. Los resultados muestran que las TIC están a la vanguardia de las nuevas tecnologías y son esenciales para hacer realidad una sociedad basada en el conocimiento y un país más avanzado con una economía más fuerte. Al respecto, se encontró que el número de empresas Fintech ha aumentado la inclusión financiera en el país y es significativo al 1%.Technological developments have affected the financial industry in recent years, introducing new business models such as fintech, blockchain and artificial intelligence, thus increasing the range of financial products with high disruptive potential. In this sense, new technologies in the financial sector play an important role in financial inclusion since they allow more Colombians to access innovative services and promote economic growth. In this sense, this study documents the incidence between the adoption of new technologies in the context of emerging Latin American markets and the process of financial inclusion, highlighting aspects such as trends, expectations, attractiveness for investors, among the main aspects. In this regard, specialized international and national literature was analyzed, historical data from the World Bank was used and the econometric analysis was developed through linear regression models. The results reveal that ICTs are essential to achieve a knowledge-based society that is at the forefront of new technologies in order to achieve a more developed country with a more robust economy.
