On the applicability of non-resonant artificial diamagnetics
Artificial diamagnetics are prominent for achieving extraordinarily strong
diamagnetism in a wide frequency range. However, as far as the magnetic fields
outside the artificial medium are concerned, bulk conductors show a very
similar pattern. The question arises whether the complicated internal structure
of artificial diamagnetics can, to this end, be replaced by a simpler object.
We analyse the figure of merit for the application of diamagnetics in magnetic
levitation, and show that for an electrically small body, any internal
structuring makes the figure of merit worse than that of a simple conducting

Neural Networks Compression for Language Modeling
In this paper, we consider several compression techniques for the language
modeling problem based on recurrent neural networks (RNNs). It is known that
conventional RNNs, e.g, LSTM-based networks in language modeling, are
characterized with either high space complexity or substantial inference time.
This problem is especially crucial for mobile applications, in which the
constant interaction with the remote server is inappropriate. By using the Penn
Treebank (PTB) dataset we compare pruning, quantization, low-rank
factorization, tensor train decomposition for LSTM networks in terms of model

Follow-up of X-ray transients detected by SWIFT with COLORES using the BOOTES network
The Burst Observer and Optical Transient Exploring System (BOOTES) is a
network of telescopes that allows the continuous monitoring of transient
astrophysical sources. It was originally devoted to the study of the optical
emission from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) that occur in the Universe. In this paper
we show the initial results obtained using the spectrograph COLORES (mounted on

Towards a systematic design of isotropic bulk magnetic metamaterials using the cubic point groups of symmetry
In this paper a systematic approach to the design of bulk isotropic magnetic
metamaterials is presented. The role of the symmetries of both the constitutive
element and the lattice are analyzed. For this purpose it is assumed that the
metamaterial is composed by cubic SRR resonators, arranged in a cubic lattice.
The minimum symmetries needed to ensure an isotropic behavior are analyzed, and
some particular configurations are proposed. Besides, an equivalent circuit
model is proposed for the considered cubic SRR resonators. Experiments are
carried out in order to validate the proposed theory. We hope that this
analysis will pave the way to the design of bulk metamaterials with strong
isotropic magnetic response, including negative permeability and left-handed

d0 Ferromagnetic Interface Between Non-magnetic Perovskites
We use computational and experimental methods to study d0 ferromagnetism at a
charge- imbalanced interface between two perovskites. In SrTiO3/KTaO3
superlattice calculations, the charge imbalance introduces holes in the SrTiO3
layer, inducing a d0 ferromagnetic half-metallic 2D electron gas at the
interface oxygen 2p orbitals. The charge imbalance overrides doping by
vacancies at realistic concentrations. Varying the constituent materials shows
ferromagnetism to be a gen- eral property of hole-type d0 perovskite
interfaces. Atomically sharp epitaxial d0 SrTiO3/KTaO3, SrTiO3 /KNbO3 and
SrTiO3 /NaNbO3 interfaces are found to exhibit ferromagnetic hysteresis at room
temperature. We suggest the behavior is due to high density of states and
exchange coupling at the oxygen t1g band in comparison with the more studied d
band t2g symmetry electron gas.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
