PERANCANGAN TATA LETAK FASILITAS PRODUKSI MENGGUNAKAN ALGORITMA CORELAP DAN SIMULASI(Studi Kasus: PT. Dendeng Aceh Gunung Seulawah)ABSTRAKPT.

FE modelling strategies of weld repair in pre-stressed thin components

Get PDF
Two computational procedures have been developed in the commercial finite element (FE) software codes Sysweld and Abaqus to analyse and predict the residual stress state after the repair of small weld defects in thin structural components. The numerical models allow the effects of the repair to be studied when a pre-existing residual stress field is present in the fabricated part and cannot be relieved by a thermal treatment. In this work the modelling strategies are presented and tested by simulating a repair of longitudinal welds in thin sheets of Inconel 718 (IN718). Although the numerical strategies in the two codes are intrinsically different, the results show a significant agreement, predicting a notable effect imposed by the initial residual stress

Study has been made on manufactured wood polymer nanocomposites (WPNC) from Sesendok wood through impregnation of Styrene (ST), Ethyldimethylamine (EDA) and Montmorillonite (MMT) nanoclay. The impregnation process of the wood samples by vacuum-pressure method with in-situ polymerization of prepolymer mixture was used. The wood samples structural properties were investigated with Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis (DMTA), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) found to be extensively changed upon ST-co-EDA/MMT impregnated. The mechanical properties of the WPNC samples were significantly increased by ST-co-EDA/MMT treatment. Thermal properties of WPNC samples were also evaluated using themogravimetric analysis (TGA) and an improvement in thermal stability was found for WPNC. WPNC has shown excellent resistance against weathering effect while exposed to surrounding. WPNC can be used to replace plastic and synthetice materials for its excellent properties and high market demand of the modern society

An experimental and numerical investigation on the process efficiency of the focused TIG welding of Inconel 718 thick plates

Get PDF
A combined experimental and numerical approach was adopted to investigate the focused tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding process by producing bead-on-plate welds in Inconel 718 plates. Experimental investigations were carried out by means of thermocouple measurements and optical macrographs of the weld cross-section. Three dimensional finite element (FE) simulations were conducted using the commercial specialized FE software Sysweld in order to predict the thermal field induced by the process in the plates. The work presents an approach to investigate the process efficiency and calibrate the heat source model in order to produce a full thermal characterization the plasmatron welding apparatus

Protocol for the Foot in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis trial (FiJIA): a randomised controlled trial of an integrated foot care programme for foot problems in JIA

Get PDF
Background: Foot and ankle problems are a common but relatively neglected manifestation of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Studies of medical and non-medical interventions have shown that clinical outcome measures can be improved. However existing data has been drawn from small non-randomised clinical studies of single interventions that appear to under-represent the adult population suffering from juvenile idiopathic arthritis. To date, no evidence of combined therapies or integrated care for juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients with foot and ankle problems exists. Methods/design: An exploratory phase II non-pharmacological randomised controlled trial where patients including young children, adolescents and adults with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and associated foot/ankle problems will be randomised to receive integrated podiatric care via a new foot care programme, or to receive standard podiatry care. Sixty patients (30 in each arm) including children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis who satisfy the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be recruited from 2 outpatient centres of paediatric and adult rheumatology respectively. Participants will be randomised by process of minimisation using the Minim software package. The primary outcome measure is the foot related impairment measured by the Juvenile Arthritis Disability Index questionnaire's impairment domain at 6 and 12 months, with secondary outcomes including disease activity score, foot deformity score, active/limited foot joint counts, spatio-temporal and plantar-pressure gait parameters, health related quality of life and semi-quantitative ultrasonography score for inflammatory foot lesions. The new foot care programme will comprise rapid assessment and investigation, targeted treatment, with detailed outcome assessment and follow-up at minimum intervals of 3 months. Data will be collected at baseline, 6 months and 12 months from baseline. Intention to treat data analysis will be conducted. A full health economic evaluation will be conducted alongside the trial and will evaluate the cost effectiveness of the intervention. This will consider the cost per improvement in Juvenile Arthritis Disability Index, and cost per quality adjusted life year gained. In addition, a discrete choice experiment will elicit willingness to pay values and a cost benefit analysis will also be undertaken

Comparison of coronary-artery bypass surgery and stenting for the treatment of multivessel disease

BACKGROUND: The recent recognition that coronary-artery stenting has improved the short- and long-term outcomes of patients treated with angioplasty has made it necessary to reevaluate the relative benefits of bypass surgery and percutaneous interventions in patients with multivessel disease. METHODS: A total of 1205 patients were randomly assigned to undergo stent implantation or bypass surgery when a cardiac surgeon and an interventional cardiologist agreed that the same extent of revascularization could be achieved by either technique. The primary clinical end point was freedom from major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events at one year. The costs of hospital resources used were also determined. RESULTS: At one year, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the rates of death, stroke, or myocardial infarction. Among patients who survived without a stroke or a myocardial infarction, 16.8 percent of those in the stenting group underwent a second revascularization, as compared with 3.5 percent of those in the surgery group. The rate of event-free survival at one year was 73.8 percent among the patients who received stents and 87.8 percent among those who underwent bypass surgery (P<0.001 by the log-rank test). The costs for the initial procedure were 4,212lessforpatientsassignedtostentingthanforthoseassignedtobypasssurgery,butthisdifferencewasreducedduringfollowupbecauseoftheincreasedneedforrepeatedrevascularization;afteroneyear,thenetdifferenceinfavorofstentingwasestimatedtobe4,212 less for patients assigned to stenting than for those assigned to bypass surgery, but this difference was reduced during follow-up because of the increased need for repeated revascularization; after one year, the net difference in favor of stenting was estimated to be 2,973 per patient. CONCLUSION: As measured one year after the procedure, coronary stenting for multivessel disease is less expensive than bypass surgery and offers the same degree of protection against death, stroke, and myocardial infarction. However, stenting is associated with a greater need for repeated revascularization
