Amplitudes Fitted to Experimental Data and to Roy's Equations
The scalar-isoscalar, scalar-isotensor and vector-isovector pi-pi amplitudes
are fitted simultaneously to experimental data and to Roy's equations. The
resulting amplitudes are compared with those fitted only to experimental data.
No additional constraints for the pi-pi threshold behaviour of the amplitudes
are imposed. Threshold parameters are calculated for the amplitudes in the
three waves. Spectrum of scalar mesons below 1.8 GeV is found from the analysis
of the analytical structure of the fitted amplitudes.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure. Talk given at MESON 2004: 8th International

Monte Carlo Renormalization of the 3-D Ising model: Analyticity and Convergence
We review the assumptions on which the Monte Carlo renormalization technique
is based, in particular the analyticity of the block spin transformations. On
this basis, we select an optimized Kadanoff blocking rule in combination with
the simulation of a d=3 Ising model with reduced corrections to scaling. This
is achieved by including interactions with second and third neighbors. As a
consequence of the improved analyticity properties, this Monte Carlo
renormalization method yields a fast convergence and a high accuracy. The
results for the critical exponents are y_H=2.481(1) and y_T=1.585(3).Comment: RevTeX, 4 PostScript file
Surface and bulk transitions in three-dimensional O(n) models
Using Monte Carlo methods and finite-size scaling, we investigate surface
criticality in the O models on the simple-cubic lattice with , 2, and
3, i.e. the Ising, XY, and Heisenberg models. For the critical couplings we
find and . We
simulate the three models with open surfaces and determine the surface magnetic
exponents at the ordinary transition to be ,
, and for , 2, and 3, respectively. Then we vary
the surface coupling and locate the so-called special transition at
and , where
. The corresponding surface thermal and magnetic exponents are
and for the Ising
model, and and for
the XY model. Finite-size corrections with an exponent close to -1/2 occur for
both models. Also for the Heisenberg model we find substantial evidence for the
existence of a special surface transition.Comment: TeX paper and 10 eps figure
Estimating nitrogen fluxes at the European scale by upscaling INTEGRATOR model outputs from selected sites
A comparison was made between upscaled model results of nitrogen (N) fluxes to air and water from 450 sites within the EU-27 and results derived for the entire EU-27 area using the model INTEGRATOR. The 450 sites were selected using stratified random sampling, dividing the EU-27 into 150 strata and selecting three sites at random within each stratum. The strata were based on important environmental factors influencing N fluxes. Hierarchical divisive cluster analysis was used to reduce the numerous combinations of environmental factors to the required total of 150, such that the heterogeneity of environmental factors within strata was as small as possible. Modelled NH3, N2O and NOx emissions and N leaching/runoff obtained were scaled up from the 450 sites to the entire EU-27 and were within 10% of results obtained by running the model for the whole of the EU-27 using about 36 500 sites. This implies that a reliable estimate of N fluxes for EU-27 can be made by upscaling results of the 450 selected sites suggesting that dramatic reduction in computation time can be achieved without substantial deterioration of result
Analysis of Bose-Einstein correlations in e+e- -> W+W- events including final state interactions
Recently DELPHI Collaboration reported new data on Bose-Einstein correlations
(BEC) measured in e+e- -> W^+W^- events. Apparently no enhancement has been
observed. We have analyzed these data including final state interactions (FSI)
of both Coulomb and strong (s-wave) origin and found that there is enhancement
in BEC but it is overshadowed by the FSI which are extremely important for
those events. We have found the following values for the size of the
interaction range beta and the degree of coherence lambda: beta=0.87 +/- 0.31fm
and lambda=1.19 +/- 0.48, respectively.Comment: 7pages, 4 figure
A global fit of and elastic scattering in ChPT with dispersion relations
We apply the one-loop results of the ChPT suplemented
with the inverse amplitude method to fit the available experimental data on
and scattering. With esentially only three parameters we
describe accurately data corresponding to six different channels, namely
and . In addition we
reproduce the first resonances of the and channel with the
right mass corresponding to the and the particles.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures available on request, FT/UCM/10/9
