    EDEMA-REDUCING ACTIVITY OF SARGASSUM CRASSIFOLIUM Î’-GLUCAN (LAMINARAN) ON EDEMA-INDUCED RATTUS NORVEGICUS

    Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate anti-inflammatory activity of β-glucan (laminaran) of brown algae, Sargassum crassifolium which was extracted by using two different methods, β-glucan laminaran acid extract (LAE) and laminaran modified extract (LME).Methods: β-glucan (laminaran) of brown algae, S. crassifolium have been extracted using two different methods, namely, β-glucan LAE and LME. The edema reducing activity of the extracts was investigated with carrageenan- induced leg edema male of Rattus norvegicus as a model.Results: The swelling of edema was strongly inhibited by the treatment of LME with a percentage of 81.62% after 3rd hr. It also found that the size of edema were inhibited by all treatments with the value ranging from 25.49% to 81.68%. Smallest edema size was found on LME treatment, with a size of 0.68±0.09 mm where the control was about 0.92 mm. Furthermore, all β-glucan-treated mice showed lower edema size compared to control.Conclusion: It was obvious that all type of laminaran had anti-inflammatory activity. LME is the best method for production of β-glucan (laminaran) with high anti-inflammatory activity. Hence, in this study, we reported a new anti-inflammatory agent derived from S. crassifolium

    ANALYSIS OF STUDENT LEARNING PROCESSES AND OUTCOMES THROUGH THE USE OF VIDEO AND IMAGE MEDIA IN LEARNING PANCASILA AND CIVIC EDUCATION

    The study aimed to explain the use of video and pictures as learning media by civics teachers at SMPN 2 Samarinda, to describe the process of utilizing video and pictures as learning media at SMPN 2 Samarinda, and to know students’ achievement by using video and picture as learning media at SMPN 2 Samarinda. This descriptive qualitative study focused on the use of video as learning media consisting of animation, video content, and stages in making video presentations and the picture characterized by colorful, aesthetic, and proportional features. Primary data and secondary data sources were applied. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. After collecting them, they were then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The result of the study showed that the video and picture used as learning media by 7A students at SMPN 2 Samarinda positively affected their learning process and achievement. This was indicated by their ability to comprehend and respond to the materials. Besides, the use of video and pictures as learning media also improved their achievement in the related subject

    Pengembangan Disain Manajemen untuk Efektifitas Implementasi Pelaksanaan Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) di Daerah Perbatasan Propinsi Kalimantan Timur dan Utara

    Kendala yang dihadapi terjadi baik dari tahap persiapan maupun tahap pelaksanaan dengan muara utamannya adalah terkait manajemen pengelolaan pendidikan profesi guru (PPG) yang belum tertata dengan benar ditingkat pemerintah kabupaten yang masuk dalam kategori daerah terpencil, terluar, terdepan (3T) pada umumnya berada di wilayah perbatasan propinsi Kalimantan Timur dan Kalimantan Utara. Mengingat pentingnya dukungan pemerintah kabupaten dalam keikutsertaan sebagai bagian dari pengelolaan pendidikan profesi guru dalam rangka menyiapkan guru masa depan Indonesia, maka dalam pengeloaannya dibutuhkan suatu perencanaan yang matang sehingga sub sistem pengelolaan pendidikan profesi guru (PPG) yang terjadi di tingkat kabupaten benar-benar berjalan sebagai bagian dari penyiapan pendidikan profesi guru PPG secara nasional. Melalui penelitian ini mengembangkan disain manajemen pendidikan profesi guru yang terfokus di daerah terpencil, terluar, terdepan (3T) untuk kabupaten Nunukan, dan Kutai Barat yang berada dalam wilayah Kalimantan Timur dan Kalimantan Utara. Metode penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan yang diawali dengan kegiatan analisis kebutuhan untuk tahun pertama. Tahun ke dua adalah pengembangan draf disain manajemen melalui validasi ahli dan validasi empiris, sehingga dari draf disain manejemen menjadi disain manajemen. Tahun ke tiga penelitian ini adalah sosialisasi hasil pengembangan disain manajemen dengan teknik simulasi. Keseluruhan penelitian di rencanakan 3 tahun dan yang dilaporkan dalam makalah ini hasil tahun pertama karena penelitian baru memasuki tahun pertama. Teknik analisis data menggunakan tabulasi dan diinterpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan permasalahan yang dihadapi selama ini terkait program PPG adalah kurangnya koordinasi antara pusat, dan dinas pendidikan dari tahap persiapan penyusunan program dan implementasi program sampai pada kegiatan monitoring dan evaluasi. Hal ini berdampak pada upaya yang dilakukan oleh dinas setempat menjadi tidak efektif dan efisien dalam memecahkan permasalahan. Salah satu indikasi tidak efektif dalam pemecahan masalah terkait implementasi program PPG adalah kompetensi peserta PPG tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan daerah, masalah ini terjadi karena dinas pendidikan tidak dilibatkan pada tahapan persiapan yang dilaksanakan oleh pegelolah PPG ditingkat pusat

    The purpose of this research is knowing the role of training of the country on the discipline work employee, include : disciplined time, disciplined regulations and dressed and disciplined responsibility. The of this research is thedescriptive kualitatif, with its primary data and secondary. The subject of research is the employees who followed training of the chosen with purposive sampling. Technique observations, collecting data is an interview and documentation. The techniques data analysis of the reduction of data, presenting data and the conclusion. The results of research suggests that training of the very act and give positive things in disciplined work employees at work, which can be in the value of discipline time is very disciplined 77%, disciplined 19% and quite disciplined 4%, the discipline regulations and dressed in which is very disciplined 90%, disciplined 10% and quite discipline 0%, the discipline responsibility is very disciplined 84% of discipline 14% and quite disciplined 2%. The results of research is reinforced with the documentation employees at the place of work, as well as the data from the informant showing work increasingly disciplined. With the training of the country, employees have the opportunity to absorb knowledge and the values of the new, so that employees can increase disciplined on while at work

    The Study of the Implementation of the Values of Religious Tolerance in Heterogeneous Societies at District Air Putih, Samarinda Ulu. This research aims to describe the values of tolerance in worship and to explicate tolerance values in inter-religious association in heterogeneouscieties at District Air Putih. This research method was descriptive and qualitative. The data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data was analyzed through data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research findings revealed that the values of tolerance in worshipping in heterogeneous societies at District Air Putih were shown in two forms. First, respect other people’s religion by giving them opportunity to organize worship. Second, by visiting people of other religions when they celebrate their feast day. Tolerance values in an inter-religion association that were implemented were open to differences, acceptance, and appreciation of kindness by people of other religions, and participation in community activities

    This study aims to: analyze the needs of teachers, feasibility and effectiveness in the development of learning tools based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve 7th grade students' Science learning outcomes in SMPN 2 Bongan. The results of the observation is in the form of teacher needs analysis instrument analyzed using qualitative descriptive. Observation results obtained that the use of Problem Based Learning model in Science learning process had not been optimally implemented in schools, problems obtained in teachers are: 1) teachers still had difficulties in understanding and composing learning tools, 2) teachers still had difficulties in determining the appropriate learning model, 3) teachers were still less creative, 4) lack of facilities and infrastructure provided in schools for teachers to be more innovative in learning. Problems obtained in students are: 1) low mastery on the subject matter, students were only able to answer the problem of C1 to C3 thinking levels, 2) Science learning only embraced the concept so that students felt lack of interest in learning, 3) students were not engaging in learning, 4) low level of student learning outcomes
