Un presente rivolto all'indietro. Tecniche della memoria in Bruno e Benjamin

    Get PDF
Starting from the philosophical speculations of Giordano Bruno and Walter Benjamin, the article aims to focus the theme of memory, analysing its historical and political value – as the ‘true measure of life’, image and timeless seal in which history stops – and on the utopian redemptive possibilities of remembering, understood as a ‘retroactive reference of the present to the past’ able to shape a real ‘dialectic of reminiscence’ and spread new light not only on past history, but also and above all on present and future history

Stories from the Empty School Desk: Places, Objects and Memories in Augmented Reality

    Get PDF
Stories from the Empty School Desk is an educational project and experience based on the use of augmented reality and designed to raise the awareness of young generations about the dramatic events related to the persecution of Jews and the Italian resistance movement during Italian Fascism and the Nazi occupation of Italy. The project is characterized by the design of a temporary place of memory, the reconstruction of an Italian classroom of the 30s-40s, to be explored with AR technology. The AR experience was created with the collaboration of the high school's teachers and students, starting from information available in the historical archive of the school itself and other trusted sources. In the AR experience, visitors are engaged with objects, historical documents, and human silhouettes that populate the classroom. An evaluation study displays good results for several analyzed dimensions, including engagement and ethics

Effect on the canine Eck fistula liver of intraportal TGF‐ÎČ alone or with hepatic growth factors

    Get PDF
Transforming growth factor‐ÎČ canceled the hepatocyte proliferation caused by transforming growth factor‐α when the two substances were mixed and administered through a disconnected central portal vein branch after creation of an Eck fistula. In contrast, transforming growth factor‐ÎČ had no antidotal action on the stimulatory effects of insulin or full test doses of insulinlike factor‐2, hepatocyte growth factor, epidermal growth factor or triiodothymanine. A minor antidotal effect on hepatic stimulatory substance activity could be detected, but only with hepatic stimulatory substance was given in doses smaller than those known to cause maximum stimulatory response. These results suggest a highly specific pharmacological and physiological interaction between transforming growth factor‐α and transforming growth factor‐α in the modulation of liver growth control. Radiomics in prostate cancer: an up-to-date review

    Get PDF
: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common worldwide diagnosed malignancy in male population. The diagnosis, the identification of aggressive disease, and the post-treatment follow-up needs a more comprehensive and holistic approach. Radiomics is the extraction and interpretation of images phenotypes in a quantitative manner. Radiomics may give an advantage through advancements in imaging modalities and through the potential power of artificial intelligence techniques by translating those features into clinical outcome prediction. This article gives an overview on the current evidence of methodology and reviews the available literature on radiomics in PCa patients, highlighting its potential for personalized treatment and future applications
