Master\u27s Project: Examining Equity and Emergence: Personal Inquiry and Practice
When I awakened to the reality of my White privilege I began a transformative learning journey which implicates my personal life, professional work, and leadership practice. This project deepened and integrated my understanding of Whiteness, power, privilege, and systemic oppression. By learning the ways I perpetuate white supremacy, I create personal agency for changing such patterns, embodying leadership which builds a more equitable and justice-centered future. This personal inquiry utilized emergent strategy, relationship-building, and critical reflection to generate deep and integrated learning
Constructing the Life of the Medieval Virgin Martyr as Death. [abstract].
'Passio' of the virgin martyr were extremely popular in the medieval world, providing a model and inspiration for women. Such Lives are distinguished from the biographies of female saints, which gave detailed accounts of women known to the writer, while virgin martyr Lives were legendary, formed from stories several centuries old, that were often adapted and supplemented according to the circumstances. Some, for example, were written for anchoresses, those committed to a perpetually enclosed life; others were used on saints’ days in church. The result is stories that are highly conventionalised in both structure and imagery, forming a body of literature that reflects attitudes to women and virginity, as well as raising some intriguing and complex questions about the nature of female agency and spirituality. In this paper, Dr Cadwallader firstly explores the highly conventional nature of the stories through a range of medieval passio to establish the qualities of the virgin martyr and the basic elements of her story. This study of the conventions of the virgin martyr Life establishes the base for the discussion which forms the second part of the paper, in which several major issues emerge

Effective strategies for managing your research data (advanced session)
This course gives a brief recap on RDM and then covers managing personal and sensitive data in the context of the new GDPR legislation, why it is a Good Thing to share your data, and how to do this most effectively in terms of describing your data, deciding where to share it, and using licences to control how your data is used by others. You will even get to write your own Data Management Plan (DMP): these help you manage your data throughout a project and after it has ended and are increasingly required as part of a grant or fellowship application. You will also learn about the range of support services available to you within the University for managing your data
Dictations
The first part of the session will look at why teachers and students have reservations about dictations. Well be doing and discussing a dictation "formatÂż which may help to make dictations a more popular teeching/leerning device.
During the second part of the session, we'll go on to look at how dictations can be adapted according to different aims such as prectising aspects of phonology and developing the writing skill

Epimeric L-Proline Derived Imidazolone Chiral Auxiliaries for the Stereoselective Alkylative Birch Reduction of Aromatic Esters and Benzonitriles
Described in this thesis are several advancements of imidazolidinone chiral auxiliaries. Initially, attempts were made to develop a N-heterocyclic carbene ligand derived from the N-benzyl analog of the auxiliary. Attempts to design a monodentate ligand as well as a bidentate ligand bearing an alcohol side chain were both shown to be unsuccessful. Work on the N-phenyl variant of the auxiliary included expanding upon our recently discovered methodology; a Birch reduction alkylation sequence of an aromatic ester yielding chiral quaternary carbon centres in a stereoselective matter. In substrates that demonstrate poor stereoselectivity, modification of the auxiliary to include a larger neopentoxy directing group gives way to increased selectivity. This work also includes the same Birch reduction alkylation sequence on a series of benzonitrile substrates with up to 64:36 diastereomeric ratio from either epimer of the auxiliary. The low selectivity of the benzonitrile substrates is offset by the resulting diastereomers of the dihydrobenzonitrile products being chromatographically separable. This results in the first preparation of optically pure quaternary carbons alpha to nitrile by Birch-type reductive alkylation. Progress was also made in the manipulation of chiral auxiliaries bearing the chiral alkoxy moiety. These functional groups were transformed into hemiaminals by citric acid hydrolysis in a 3:2 ratio with imidazolone by-products formed by acid mediated elimination of alcohol
The local and the universal: Anglican appreciations of the Saints and Mary Mackillop
This paper provides a critical explanation of the shifting means by which the Anglican Communion has recognized saints. It is seen that there is a proximity between the practice of the Anglican Communion and that of the Orthodox Church, with particular accent on the esteem in which local practice is held and the overarching power of the liturgical calendar to bring recognition. In the light of this practice, an assessment is given of how the sainthood of Mary McKillop might be appreciated within the Anglican Church, especially in Australia
