    ExoMol line lists II: The ro-vibrational spectrum of SiO

    Accurate rotation-vibration line lists are calculated for silicon monoxide. Line lists are presented for the main isotopologue, 28^{28}Si16^{16}O, and for four monosubsituted isotopologues (29^{29}Si16^{16}O, 30^{30}Si16^{16}O, 28^{28}Si18^{18}O and 28^{28}Si17^{17}O), in their ground electronic states. These line lists are suitable for high temperatures (up to 9000 K) including those relevant to exoplanetary atmospheres and cool stars. A combination of empirical and \textit{ab initio} methods is used: the potential energy curves are determined to high accuracy by fitting to extensive data from the analysis of both laboratory and sunspot spectra; a high quality {\it ab initio} dipole moment curve is calculated at the large basis set, multi-reference configuration interaction level.     High-resolution absorption measurements of NH3 at high temperatures: 2100 - 5500

    High-resolution absorption spectra of \NH\ in the region 2100 - 5500 \cm\ at 1027 ∘^{\circ}C and atmospheric pressure (1045 ±\pm 3 mbar) are measured. An \NH\ concentration of 10\% in volume fraction is used in the measurements. Spectra are recorded in a high-temperature gas-flow cell using a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer at a nominal resolution of 0.09 \cm. The spectra are analysed by comparison to a variational line list, BYTe, and experimental energy levels determined using the MARVEL procedure. 2308 lines have been assigned to 45 different bands, of which 1755 and 15 have been assigned or observed for the first time in this work

    Tipping the scales: ambidexterity practices on e-HRM projects

    Purpose: We examine and conceptualise the ways in which a balance can be achieved between optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of electronic HRM (e-HRM) systems for human resource management (HRM) and enabling innovation to occur during the system implementation. Design/methodology/approach: An intepretive case study of a UK local authority e-HRM system implementation is examined using the notion of ambidexterity as an analytical device. Ambidexterity relates to how an organisation develops the ability to operate efficiently in the now, while at the same time being able to adapt to environmental changes around and ahead of them in order to grow into the future. Findings: As an intra-organisational capability, ambidexterity is found to derive from the simultaneous interplay and balancing of dual capabilities: exploitation and exploration.. E-HRM exploitation concerned the capability to generate new knowledge with innovatory effects, created through the everyday practices performed by practitioners at all levels in the organisation. E-HRM exploration, rather than being a purposeful act, was found to be an accidental consequence of engaging in exploitation to maintain the status quo. Originality/value: There is a lack of detailed investigation of how organisations actually achieve ambidexterity, particularly in three under-researched areas: ambidexterity in the public sector, at HR functional level and e-HRM systems implementation. Bundling these three areas into an integrated examination allows us to both identify how exploitation and exploration play out in the ambidextrous practices of an e-HRM project and also to identify the dimensions of ambidexterity in balancing e-HRM work

    Development of food photographs for use with children aged 18 months to 16 years:comparison against weighed food diaries – The Young Person’s Food Atlas (UK)

    Traditional dietary assessment methods, used in the UK, such as weighed food diaries impose a large participant burden, often resulting in difficulty recruiting representative samples and underreporting of energy intakes. One approach to reducing the burden placed on the participant is to use portion size assessment tools to obtain an estimate of the amount of food consumed, removing the need to weigh all foods. An age range specific food atlas was developed for use in assessing children’s dietary intakes. The foods selected and portion sizes depicted were derived from intakes recorded during the UK National Diet and Nutrition Surveys of children aged 1.5 to 16 years. Estimates of food portion sizes using the food atlas were compared against 4-day weighed intakes along with in-school / nursery observations, by the research team. Interviews were conducted with parents the day after completion of the diary, and for children aged 4 to 16 years, also with the child. Mean estimates of portion size consumed were within 7% of the weight of food recorded in the weighed food diary. The limits of agreement were wide indicating high variability of estimates at the individual level but the precision increased with increasing age. For children 11 years and over, agreement with weighed food diaries, was as good as that of their parents in terms of total weight of food consumed and of intake of energy and key nutrients.     Exploring the intergenerational continuity of ACEs amongst a sample of Welsh male prisoners: A retrospective cross-sectional study

    BackgroundThe relationship between parent and child adverse childhood experience (ACE) exposure remains underexplored, particularly within justice-involved samples.ObjectiveThis objective of the study was to examine the intergenerational continuity of ACEs within a UK prison population.Participants294 males aged 18–69 years in a Welsh prison, with father reported data for 671 children they had fathered.MethodsA face-to-face ACE questionnaire measured exposure to 10 ACE types. For each child they had fathered participants were asked to report their child's gender, age and their exposure before the age of 18 to the same ACE types, except having a household member incarcerated.FindingsPaternal ACE exposure was found to increase the risk of child ACE exposure, both to multiple ACEs and individual ACE types. Compared to children of fathers with no ACEs, those of fathers with 4+ were almost three times more likely to have been exposed to 2–3 ACEs and six times more likely to be exposed to 4+ ACEs. The risk of a child residing in a household where mental illness was present was 7.4 times higher where their father had 4+ ACEs.ConclusionFindings highlight the need for prevention interventions to break the intergenerational continuity of ACEs. Further research is needed to explore what protects against the intergenerational continuity of ACEs. Criminal justice systems and wider services need to ensure that they support those incarcerated alongside their families who are at high risk of ACEs and consequently poorer education, health and criminal justice outcomes

    Patient and Provider Experience with Artificial Intelligence Screening Technology for Diabetic Retinopathy in a Rural Primary Care Setting

    Introduction: The development of autonomous artificial intelligence for interpreting diabetic retinopathy (DR) images has allowed for point-of-care testing in the primary care setting. This study describes patient and provider experiences and perceptions of the artificial intelligence DR screening technology called EyeArt by EyeNuk during implementation of the tool at Western Maine Primary Care in Norway, Maine. Methods: This non-randomized, single-center, prospective observational study surveyed 102 patients and 13 primary care providers on their experience of the new screening intervention. Results: All surveyed providers agreed that the new screening tool would improve access and annual screening rates. Some providers also identified initial challenges in incorporating the tool into the primary care visit (31%). Patients expressed a favorable view of the service, sharing an openness to being screened more regularly (75%) and a desire to have screenings performed at Western Maine Primary Care going forward (81%). Discussion: Patients were generally favorable about their experience with the new DR screening technology. Providers indicated challenges due to the limited availability of trained medical assistant photographers during the initial implementation of DR screening, as well as timing issues in coordinating screening with regular office appointments. Conclusions: This study supports further investigation of this technology in primary care, particularly in areas with challenges to care access. The potential benefits of this innovative tool in caring for people with diabetes includes improving access to retinopathy screenings and supporting wider detection of vision-threatening retinopathy
