Information Search Strategies Among Theological Faculty Members in Tamil Nadu

This research article studies the information seeking search strategies used by theological faculty members in Tamil Nadu. It is based on a structured questionnaire sent to 120 select faculty members, of which 101 questionnaires were returned, achieving a response rate of 84%. Major findings of this study contribute to understanding the awareness and use of search options among respondents. Basic and keyword search options are commonly used by respondents in online sources while preferences for references from books and journals are more popular among faculty members to locate bibliographic information in print sources. This study further noted that faculty members are generally seeking information for preparing class lectures and preaching sermons and respondents indicated that Google searching is highly used by them for locating online information. The respondents expressed that borrowing books and using reference books and journals are the most compelling reasons for visiting libraries. Reading table of contents and reading specific articles are common strategies used by faculty members while looking for information in print resources. The non-availability of full-text articles, lack of scholarly national publications and retrieving irrelevant articles are problems faculty members commonly face while searching online resources. The findings of this study have impact on library instruction, and for improving library services and collections in theological institutions in Tamil Nadu

ABSTRACT This study explores the feasibility of using social networking sites for teaching and research purposes based on the opinion of faculty and research scholars of various departments that belong to science and technology schools in Pondicherry University. The data were collected through questionnaire using simple random sampling from 22 faculty members and 76 research scholars. The result revealed that majority of the respondents was in favour of using social networking sites for academic purposes. 77.65% of them used Research Gate and Academia.edu was used by 64.89% of the respondents. More than 50% of the respondents opined that privacy policies of SNS are effective and 55.31% of the respondents are satisfied with the use of Social networking sites

Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare complication encountered in pregnancy. Symptoms of CVT include headache, limb paresis, seizures , disturbed consciousness , visual disturbances. We present our 25 years old pregnant patient who presented with unsteadiness of gait , weakness and numbness of all four limbs, vomiting headache , giddiness due to which it was difficult for her to perform her daily activities. After the differential diagnostic examinations, we recognised cerebral venous thrombosis. After anti-coagulant treatment , the symptoms resolved. We would like to convey that such symptoms in pregnant women we should always think of CVT

Abstract Introduction: Tobacco dependence is classified as a disease by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), but, medical and dental professionals have neither seriously taken this fact nor made any serious attempt to tackle this disease. Apart from supporting wider tobacco control measures, oral health professionals can help patients to stop using tobacco. This may be the single most important service dentists can provide for their patients' overall health. Objective: This review is prepared with the object to help both clinicians and oral health professionals to scale up their involvement in tobacco control activities, including advocacy and smoking cessation programs. Literature review: Studies have shown that 0 smokers indicate Studies have shown that 0 smokers indicate that they want to quit, but a meagre 2 succeed. The dental practice The dental practice setting provides a unique opportunity to assist tobacco users in achieving tobacco abstinence. Still, More than 40 of dentists do not routinely ask about tobacco use and 60 do not routinely advise tobacco users to quit, while 61.5 of dentists believe their patients do not expect tobacco cessation services. Conclusion: Interventions by dentist has been found to be effective in helping people to quit tobacco consumption. A step-wise approach and patience must be adopted while dealing with such patients

Study on Correlation Coefficient of A. C. Conductivity and Relaxation Time of Soils with Moisture Content at 5.3 Ghz

ABSTRACT: An automated C-band microwave set-up in the TE 10 mode with Gunn source operating at frequency 5.3 GHz is used for measuring dielectric properties of soils. Soil samples are collected from four different locations lying in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh state (India). The parameters such as a. c. electrical conductivity (σ), and relaxation time (τ) of soil are determined from the experimentally measured values of complex dielectric constants of soils. Statistical correlation coefficient of a. c. conductivity and relaxation time of soils with moisture content for these soil samples are reported. For all the soil samples, the dielectric constant (ε') and dielectric loss (ε'') in general, are found to increase with increase in percentage gravimetric Moisture Content (MC %). Further, our results give high degree positive and relatively small negative correlation coefficient for a. c. conductivity and relaxation time respectively with MC (%) for all the four soil samples studied
