Impact of corporate social responsibility disclosures on financial performance

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure on the financial performance of industrial companies operating in Australia. The study adopts a quantitative methodological approach. Using a statistical analysis technique, the study makes use of regression analysis to explore the relation between the independent variable (number of CSR achievements) and the dependent variable (average share price). The number of CSR achievements was extracted from annual reports using content analysis. The average share price was taken from the annual reports. The total sample is 10 industrial companies listed in Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), and the sample comprises 50 annual reports. The result of the analysis shows that overall there is positive relationship between CSR disclosure and the financial performance of listed Australian companies operating in the industrial sector of the economy. It is recommended that these companies pay more attention to their CSR disclosure, and view it to achieve better financial performance

Interplay of chemical pressure and hydrogen insertion effects in CeRhSn {\bf CeRhSn} from first principles

Investigations within the local spin density functional theory (LSDF) of the intermetallic hydride system CeRhSnHx {\rm CeRhSnH_x} were carried out for discrete model compositions in the range 0.33≤xH≤1.33 0.33 \leq x_H \leq 1.33 . The aim of this study is to assess the change of the cerium valence state in the neighborhood of the experimental hydride composition, CeRhSnH0.8 {\rm CeRhSnH_{0.8}} . In agreement with experiment, the analyses of the electronic and magnetic structures and of the chemical bonding properties point to trivalent cerium for 1≤xH≤1.33 1 \leq x_H \leq 1.33 . In contrast, for lower hydrogen amounts the hydride system stays in an intermediate-valent state for cerium, like in CeRhSn {\rm CeRhSn} . The influence of the insertion of hydrogen is addressed from both the volume expansion and chemical bonding effects. The latter are found to have the main influence on the change of Ce valence character. Spin polarized calculations point to a finite magnetic moment carried by the Ce 4f 4f states; its magnitude increases with xH x_H in the range 1≤xH≤1.33 1 \leq x_H \leq 1.33

PERANCANGAN ANTARMUKA SISTEM INFORMASI PELAPORAN KEGIATAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE DESIGN THINKING (STUDI KASUS: BAPPEDA KOTA MALANG)

In the employee reporting process at BAPPEDA, manual methods are still being utilized with forms and WhatsApp as supporting platforms. This has led to issues such as an inability to ascertain the status of reported activities, a lack of information from other departments, and difficulties in locating reports and supporting documents. Consequently, there's a need for a centralized reporting tool to make the reporting process and data retrieval more effective. In the system design phase, there is a process for designing features and interfaces that align with user requirements. In this study, the researcher designed the interface for the activity reporting information system using the design thinking method. Design thinking was employed to gain a deep understanding of the needs and challenges and to allow flexibility for improvements based on user feedback, resulting in effective solutions that meet user needs. The outcome of this research is a high-fidelity prototype of the activity reporting information system for BAPPEDA employees in Malang City, tailored to address user needs and issues. During the testing phase, usability testing was conducted using the System Usability Scale as a metric, yielding a score of 81, classified with an adjective rating of "excellent," earning a grade of A and falling within the acceptable range of acceptability

Diurnal dynamics of water quality parameters in an aquaculture system based on recirculating green water technology

    Get PDF
Recirculating greenwater aquaculture technology is an appropriate method for producing commercial quantities of tilapia in areas where water is scarce. Greenwater systems achieve better fish production, more than 90% water recycling and nutrient utilization. This study was designed to address the diurnal dynamics of certain water quality parameters in greenwater system. Culture tanks were stocked at a density of 40 fish/m3 with mixed-sex Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus fingerlings and fed ad libitum with floating pellets containing 34% protein. The water temperature was kept 28±1ºC, aeration was provided and sludge was collected twice daily. Values of critical chemical parameters in the water were found to be well within the acceptable limits based on diurnal water sampling. @JASE

ALIYAH MADRASA EDUCATION IN BANGLADESH: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS

    Get PDF
This study examines the problems and prospects of Aliya Madrasa education in Bangladesh. Education is the opportunity to enhance oneself and to develop society and the nation at large. To examine the problems and prospects of Aliya Madrasa in Bangladesh, this study employs a qualitative approach with library research and data sources from books, articles, research papers, reports of newspapers and magazines, education commissions, and government education policies. Madrasah education in Bangladesh is found to be associated with some problems from inside and outside. Through the study, some problems have been identified linked to the curriculum, management, poor funding, lack of quality teachers, shortage of instructional equipment for science subjects, and limited teacher training institutes. Furthermore, Madrasa graduates face many problems, such as university admissions examinations, government service interviews, and joining cultural activities. This paper advises that the government should consider madrasa education carefully as an important education system since it is a unique system in Bangladesh. It further suggests that the management committee, head teacher, staff, and students altogether must have to work to attain the goals of Madrasa education. Moreover, madrasa education must be restructured according to the current needs. The current curriculum approach needs to be modified and developed in accordance with the modern education system by providing all the necessary tools. Madrasas should also motivate their students to play a role in politics and take part in cultural and national activities in Bangladesh
